Heavenly Wings Parrot Rescue

Heavenly Wings Parrot Rescue We are a non-profit parrot rescue based out of Oklahoma. We take in unwanted, abused and parrots seeking forever homes. this too will go by bird.

We are not - for - profit organization here in Oklahoma looking to make a difference one bird at a time. We have birds given to us under a signed contract that surrenders the birb(s) to HEAVENLY WINGS PARROT RESCUE. Once in our care they go see a veterinarian to do general health and wellness checks. After that they are kept in a special room away from all other birds while in quarantine. once th

eir time is up in quarantine they then get to meet the other family flock. This is where we decide if the bird/parrot is capable of being adopted out to a new family or must stay with the rescue family. the ones that surrender their birds to us can also make the determination on if they want them to leave the rescue. We have a strict contract that all adopters must fill out and sign. the biggest part in this contract is that if for any reason they can no longer care for the bird it will immediately be turned back over to us. As far as adoptive fees that we will be charging will vary bird from bird. this adoptive fee covers expenses acquired by the parrot as far as vet, medicines, food, special foods, and all other things the bird acquired during its stay. these fees will have caps that they will not go over. the adoption fee you pay goes back into the rescue to feed , vet, and so forth the next bird in line or toward a bird that is already in our custody that has needs. At no point will a bird be sold for retail or pet going price. Our flock thrives on donations rather they be made monetarily , donated cages, food, toys and so forth. This all runs out of pocket for us, as we have no big named sponsors or anything like that. We do it because of all the stress we as people/owners are causing these little and some big birds causing their plucking, screaming, biting, and so on. this is caused by us and im making it my work to take that stress away and give them the quality of life they deserve and demand

Rescuing parrots has always brought me joy, thats why I started Heavenly Wings Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary. These sweet creatures become children to those that care and raise them. Rescuing doesn't always mean getting them out of bad or neglectful situations, though some are. It's also getting them from people who just can't care for them anymore due to life situations, health, age and care enough to realize their feathered kid needs more than they can give now. Today we picked up Boo, an African gray in Enid that was well taken care of from 4 weeks old till now at 13 years old. The owner was devastated and crying , however knew it was best. These are the hardest ones to rescue!

FOR those that aren't aware, I suddenly ended up in ICU on lifesuport and was on it the entire month of September. Family was called in on day 4 because they thought I wouldn't make it through the night. I do mot remember anything the week prior to hospital or the month of September. I was diagnosed with a rare fungal infection in my lungs that caused me to go septic. Now that I'm home, I am having to learn to walk again along with build strength back up.
The rescue will continue, just on smaller scale for now, till I'm back up on my feet. I am letting go of two birds though that aren't part of the rescue, they are my personal pets, this is not easy for me to do. I have to thin my flock, Dr orders and to get myself better.
I am letting go of my goffins cockatoo, perfect feather, very talkative, and tame with cage $750. Then I have a Mexican red headed Amazon that is very tame, wants to ride on you constantly or be near you at least. Talks all day long. Only asking $400 FOR him. Looking for homes that have time to give them attention and the love they are used to. They are on a pellets based diet. Oh and the cockatoo is a thief, if it's small and light enough, from coins to mail, he will grab it and run from you to get it in his cage, especially pill bottles! This hurts my heart, but must be done text me if interested 918-399-0947 , we are now located in Tulsa OK

We have been really busy here with new birds coming in and one's finally ready to go being adopted out. I am going to start posting pics of birds as they come in along with their stories. In these posts it will tell you if the Bird is in the sanctuary program, meaning it will not be adopted out, or if it is in training/taming program to be adopted out in near future. Once in a great while we will get in a Bird that is in a great position to go straight to a forever home because they have been socialized correctly and are tame without behavior issues. These usually come to us from those that have to move from a home to apartment, can no longer care for a Bird due to own health issues, have inherited a Bird but do not want and so forth.
Not all our rescues are from bad places or have behavior issues, however you are adopting from a rescue where most have come to us because they bite, SCREAM, pluck, or have learned foul language. We work very hard to gain trust to turn these behaviors around. A lot of these behaviors are what cause our feathered family to be locked in a cage all day, covered in darkness, yelled at, squirted with water bottles and tossed from home to home. The stress this causes can take it's toll on a Bird and cause new or worsening behaviors that can be detrimental to them.
We are here to turn this around and regain that lost trust or build a first trust, between the Bird and human caretaker. We are here for you well after you adopt a Bird from us to insure a smooth transition and to answer any questions and concerns you have. We will be by to check in on how your bonding process is going as well as the care and safety of the Bird. They, most, have long lifespans and need to be apart of all future plans you make. Having them in your will is a very smart idea, as we all live for today as tomorrow is never guaranteed. We have some of our adaptors who have their birds coming back to us should anything happen, and we have a few who have birds that have arrangements made for their feathered family to be placed with us in future events. Just keep in mind, your Bird has a lifespan the same as you and is dependant on others just as we are on each other.
I will start posting pics and stories today sometime. Please, if their description says sanctuary Bird, do not ask to adopt them as they are NOT adoptable. I will also put an ESTIMATED time in which new birds will possibly be ready for a forever home.

Up for adoption we have a very large Blue and Gold Macaw. Its a male named Andy that is a typical macaw that once you build trust with him he is very tame. Like all birds he can and more than likely will at times bite. Any talks alot, no foul language, and is used to being out on a playstand most of the day. He is used to other birds and dogs. Never allow a bird of any size unsupervised around other pets, including other birds. You must have your own cage, big enough for a large macaw. There is an adoption fee, and you must fill out an application and if you're chosen to get Andy, you will sign a contract. If interested in Andy please PM me your email address so we can send an application for you to fill out and MAIL back to us. Also PM me with any questions you might have. Must be in Oklahoma or able to drive to TULSA.

We have had a large amount of cockatiels come into the rescue/sanctuary over the last 3 months. We are going to start adopting out some cockatiels in the following month. There are SEVERAL different color mutations, and several different dispositions in the flock. We will be pushing forward to find the ones that came to us tame and those that we've spent time to tame. We will be posting individual pictures of each cockatiel along with a short description of the best situation for each individual bird. If you are interested in one of the Cockatiels, I will need you to PM me your email address in order to send the application to you. I will need you to PRINT, FILL OUT, and MAIL back to us. I give no guarantee to anyone that you will get the bird aplied for, however you might match another birds needs better, in that case we would correspond with you via phone and email. Birds are a commitment that takes a special person to understand and deliver the care and attention they require.
Pictures and profiles will start being posted in about a week or two on this page and in other bird groups. We do not , and will not start, ship any birds, you must be in OK or willing to travel to Tulsa area in order to adopt any birds from our rescue/sanctuary. We appreciate all the support with supplies, food, and monetary donations that we are blessed to have had, and all future donations.

We now have parakeets available to be adopted. Usually don't get smaller birds like this but these were going to be set free outside if I didn't. There are three at just a year old available. The adoption fee is $5 in order to make up for gas going to get them. No cages included, please let me know if interested.

Our newest surrender is a 10 year old caique. Of course we were told its aggressive and bites. Well though only been here a couple days, its been extremely sweet and cuddly. Former family said it started getting aggressive when put into cage, well since it had been use to being out and then locked up strictly in cage, id not want to go back in either. They did care very well for him/her as far as diet and cleaning its cage. Our feather chewing goffins cockatoo has made buddies with the caique ,Charlie. Normally sugar the too is aggressive towards other birds but allows Charlie to preen his head. It's amazing to watch and I think it helps sugar to have a buddy and helps Charlie adjust to the move. He/she has shown no aggression. And is very active which is great. Now if it would stop sounding like a fire alarm with low battery beep, it would be awesome as id rather the other birds not pic it up......lol
