From the moment an animal arrives at Tulsa Animal Services, our veterinary team works hard to make sure they get the care they need.

At an open-admission shelter like TAS, no two days look the same. Between daily animal intakes, medical treatments, medication schedules, and surgeries, our clinic team plays a critical role in giving thousands of animals a healthier, happier future. 💙

Each of these dogs deserves a chance at a safe, loving home, but time is running out. We’re asking our community to step up and help us place as many of these dogs as possible before the deadline.

FROM BROKEN BONES TO RUNNING INTO HER FOREVER HOME! ❤️🐾

Just look at Azalea GO! 🐕

When Azalea arrived at TAS with a broken femur and a suspected pelvic fracture, she needed specialized medical care.

Thanks to Dr. Christine Kunzweiler and the amazing team at Veterinary Associates, Azalea got the care she needed AND a loving forever home!

Seeing her run into the arms of her new family makes our hearts so happy!

THANK YOU, VETERINARY ASSOCIATES and Dr. Kunzweiler, for going above and beyond to give Azalea her second chance!

Weekly Report Card | October 12-18, 2026
Our shelter is still over capacity, and we need your help finding homes for the animals in our care!

This week, 117 animals entered Tulsa Animal Services, including 89 strays and 16 owner surrenders. Thanks to adopters, foster families, and rescue partners, we're continuing to find positive outcomes for animals in need.

Here's a look at this week's numbers:
🐾 117 animals entered the shelter
🏡 115 animals were adopted
❤️ 60 animals are currently in foster care
📈 87% weekly save rate

Our shelter remains above capacity:
🐶 226 dogs in the shelter — 128% of capacity
😺 73 cats in the shelter — 77% of capacity

As we prepare to move to our new shelter facility, we're working to reduce overcrowding and find loving homes for as many animals as possible before the transition.

Adoptable pets come vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and with a one-year City of Tulsa pet license — all at no adoption cost!

A new shelter is an exciting next chapter for Tulsa Animal Services, but our animals need loving homes far more than they need a new building.

𝗙𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬: 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗕𝗕𝗜𝗘!🎀💕
Debbie may be a mature 3 years old, but this sweet, spayed girl is the absolute perfect package of love and manners!

Debbie (A181587) has been spending time thriving in a wonderful foster home, where she’s been getting the regular love, care, and family attention she deserves outside of a shelter kennel. Because someone opened up their doors to give her a temporary safe haven, she has been able to truly blossom. Now, she is officially ready for her next big milestone: finding a forever family of her own! 🏡✨

If you’re looking for an easy-going companion who already knows the house rules, Debbie is a total dream. She is completely house-trained and kennel-trained, making her transition into a new routine a breeze. She is fantastic with other dogs and absolutely adores children, making her a wonderful fit for an active family setup (she remains a bit unsure about cats, so she'd love a slow introduction there!).

Her sweet story is a great reminder of why fostering matters so much. Thanks to our foster network expanding, wonderful pets like Debbie get a comfortable environment to stretch their legs and relax while waiting for adoption.

Alumni Update: Kiwi found her purr-fect match!

Kiwi was adopted during our Clear the Shelters event in August, and it looks like she's found more than just a forever home — she's found a best friend!

With a little patience, proper introductions, and some helpful guidance from TAS Kennel Tech Elisabeth, Kiwi and her new feline sibling have become inseparable. Just look at these two!
