Penny, a staff members Boston Terrier, got into a prescription medication that caused her to vomit, and she then developed aspiration pneumonia which affected her breathing. After spending 4 days at , Penny recovered enough to be discharged with medication and is checked regularly by us here at SSVC. She has a long road ahead of her, but is on the road to recovery! Happy birthday to SSVC's manager, Luke! He is our top shelf reaching, toddler wrangling, and item reordering extraordinaire! He does it all with a smile and a laugh along the way, making sure the clinic runs smoothly, even if we roll our eyes at his dad jokes!

It is officially monsoon season! The rain is beautiful and good for the desert, but with it brings the Colorado River Toad also known as the Sonoran Desert Toad. When threatened, these toad secrete a milky white venom on their skin that is extremely toxic to dogs and cats. Symptoms include but are not limited to: excessive drooling, wobbling or drunken-like walking, seizures, and eventually death.

If you suspect your pet has had contact with a toad, immediately rinse their mouth out with water and call an emergency care clinic. Below is the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) information.
