Miss Maggie May's Rescue We are an all volunteer foster home based rescue group. We provide medical care, spay/neuter and vaccinations to the dogs in our care

Back in 2012, we saw a need for a rescue that was devoted to puppies, pregnant dogs, and families; and formed Miss Maggie May's Rescue. The rescue was named after the first foster we took in under a different rescue. Maggie was only 35 pounds (her ideal weight should of been 60 pounds), within 12 hours of being with us, she gave birth to 11 pups with only 5 surviving. We ended up adopting Maggie

and she was with us until 2021 (11 years). Over the course of the years we have shifted to bringing in dogs of all ages and sizes from shelters, and owner surrenders (to keep them out of the shelters). We are an 100% volunteer organization, and all donations go towards taking in these homeless dogs (as room in private foster homes permit), giving them love, any needed medical, training, and finding them new homes. All dogs and puppies are micro chipped, spay/neuter, and current on core vaccinations at time of adoption. Adoption fees alone does not cover the costs of food, medical and supplies that these puppies and dogs need so they can shine in their new homes. Donations (we are a 501c3) and Foster Homes are important parts of the equation in order to keep the rescue running and open.

Finnegan is currently unavailable

Please note: We tried to get a good estimate on Finnegan's weight without going to a vet's office to weigh him and it's about 73 pounds. We will try to get him to a proper scale next week. I can pick up a 50 pound dog, I can no longer pick this guy up. Finnegan was DNA tested, 27% Siberian Husky, 24% Standard Poodle, 13% Chow and 13 other breeds.

Finnegan is about 73 pounds and is a Husky/Standard Poodle mix. He is about 2 years old. He has been working on leash manners. He knows sit and auto sit, heel, down (knows hand signal for this command, also), and place. Will roll over if you ask him if he wants a belly rub. With someone new he will test to see if you know what he knows, He does get along with the small dogs, but introductions are required if there are dogs in your home. He can not go to a home with children (he does not like them). He is a very strong and over exuberant boy and would benefit from someone that has training experience, can work with him, and socialize him more. Finnegan is a strong boy, and he can pull hard on leash and needs a person with a Strong, Firm voice. He needs a secured fenced yard. He loves his people and hangs out in the home office or out in the living room with the small dogs. He is selective with other dogs that are in the medium range and larger. Finnegan is current on his vaccinations, chipped, neuter and crate trained.

This week we had 2 dogs that got upgrades from foster to adoption!
Alvin came back to us again a couple of months ago. We will be able to know what is going on with him, since the Director's son not only fostered him the last couple of months, he adopted him. Alvin now has not only a senior Staffy as a friend, he also has a very senior cat. But, we all know who the boss is in that home. The cat.

Dust Bunny also got an upgrade from foster to adopter! This home was perfect for her. We have visited a couple of times and she is a different dog. She loves her new human dad. She also has 2 cats living with her.

Clarissa and Darby went to ABC Vaccination Clinic today to get their boosters. Darby was concerned when they took his sister for her nail trim. Darby is available for adoption. His front right leg had a damaged growth plate. He had surgery which basically helps his leg move forward when he walks. He has a limp and at times it looks like his foot is turned to the side when he stands. He cannot jump up or down on things. He sure can get up on those back legs when he thinks you have a treat for him. He is a great lap dog once you pick him up.

We can't believe they are still with us.

Since it is Petsmart National Adoption Week, we have a generous donor, that is sponsoring part of their adoption fee.

Saturday was a blast. We had a great time!
We want to give a thank you to the Veterinary Assisting Program at Andrada Polytechnic High School for inviting us to MAVfest and Car Show to participate in their Adoption Event.
A huge thank you to the students who helped us unload, set up, during the event and loading the car at the end. The students all were more then happy to be there and a shout out to their wonderful Instructor.
While I didn't get a chance to head out and see all that was going on, I did see some of it while bringing in our setup. There was plenty of activities for all ages and a great showcase for the students to show what they have been learning.
We had very little down time, there was a huge turnout.
Clarissa did great and Ruth well you all know how friendly that pup is.
Ruth finally crashed out as soon as the car started to head home and she ended up sleeping the rest of the afternoon.
Clarissa waited until she was home and slept for a few hours.
