POV: You walk into the kitten room for a quick visit and Pennzoil immediately decides you are now part of his enrichment program. He climbs up your shoulder like it’s a summit, settles in, and then quietly reroutes himself down your back like a very determined little backpack. You attempt to shift, but you’ve officially entered “can't move or he'll fall” mode.

You accept your fate. You are now furniture.

A coworker eventually finds you at closing time and gently retrieves you from kitten captivity. Pennzoil vows to retake the summit one day.

Not to be outdone by his brother Milktank's athletic achievements (see Wednesday's World Cup training montage), Milk Jug has set his sights even higher.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics may still be a couple of years away, but that isn't stopping him from perfecting his high jump technique one leap at a time.

Competition clearly runs in the family and the sibling rivalry is getting dangerously adorable.

Two of our newest Kitten Room residents, Cecillus and Lami, were found hanging out on levels 6 and 7 of an 8 level cat tower today. Between the two of them, they have just one working eye after a severe upper respiratory infection swept through their litter.

Then Cecillus, the kitten with no eyes at all, climbed two more levels to the very top. Once there, he reached out with his paw, carefully feeling for the next step as if there simply had to be somewhere higher to go.

Cats have an incredible way of adapting to the world they have, not the one they lost. They figure it out, they keep exploring, and they refuse to let obstacles define them.

Their resilience is nothing short of amazing.

Hi, I’m Happy Gilmore, a 5 year old guy with a big personality who sometimes surprises people with how much energy I have.

I came to The Hermitage as a rescue transfer in November 2023, and I’ve settled into shelter life with plenty to say and plenty of opinions. I can be playful and a bit pushy with other cats at times, so I may do best either as the only cat or with a confident feline friend who won’t put up with my nonsense.

Medical note: I am both FeLV+ and FIV+. I also have a hernia on my side that has been evaluated by our veterinary team and does not require treatment.

In my video, you’re catching a quieter side of me. I’m actually very content in the moment, enjoying some calm attention and pets. I have both sides to me: the active, playful boy and the relaxed guy who just wants to soak up affection.

If you’re thinking of adopting, please fill out an adoption application before you come by. hermiecats.org/happy-gilmore
