Diamond Hitch Stables, in Pagosa Springs, CO, is in the heart of the San Juan Nation Forest. Our trail rides take you in and around the Martinez Canyon. We provide self and full care boarding as well. We, however, are only open in the summer months. For more info please call at (970)731-7742

🐴🤎 MEET BIG RIG! 🤎🐴

Meet Big Rig, our 18-year-old Quarter Horse with a big personality and an even bigger heart! ❤️

Now, Big Rig might be a tall guy, but don’t let his size intimidate you! This handsome boy is a kid’s horse through and through! In fact, we might even go as far as to call him the WORLD’S BEST BABYSITTER! 🥹❤️

Whether you’re 6 years old or 12 years old, Big Rig takes his job of keeping his little riders safe very seriously! He has a special way of making every kiddo feel comfortable and confident in the saddle. Once you hit the trails with him, you can pretty much sit back, relax, and let Big Rig switch on his trusty autopilot! 🐴💨

Of course, that autopilot might occasionally make a quick detour toward a tasty snack or two along the way! 🌿😂 After all, a hardworking babysitter deserves a little treat every now and then!

These days, Big Rig is happily enjoying his well-earned retirement here at the ranch. His schedule now consists of relaxing trail rides, lots of love from his little riders, and taking life at his own pace. But back in his younger days, this gentle giant had quite the impressive career! 🤠

Before becoming our resident babysitter, Big Rig was a talented kids’ rope horse! 🐎🏆 He helped young cowboys and cowgirls win plenty of ropings and make unforgettable memories in the arena. While his competitive days may be behind him, he’s still doing what he does best: taking care of the next generation of little riders!

Nowadays, Big Rig doesn’t need the excitement of a roping arena to keep him happy. A peaceful trail ride, a few sneaky snacks, and all the pats and attention his riders can give him are more than enough to make his day! ❤️

Big Rig is living proof that some of the best horses aren’t the fastest or the flashiest, but the ones you can trust with your whole heart. We’re beyond lucky to have this sweet old gentleman as part of our ranch family! 🥰

Meet Rayban, our 5-year-old Percheron/Quarter Horse cross! This big, handsome boy may be tall and mighty, but underneath it all, he’s truly a gentle giant with a heart of gold! ❤️

Rayban is one of our go-to horses for riders who may be a little nervous or intimidated by horses. With his calm, loving personality, we know that by the end of their ride, he’ll have them sitting tall, smiling big, and having the time of their lives! 🥰

But don’t let his sweet and easygoing personality fool you! Rayban is no stranger to a little hard work and adventure. He’s moved cattle, explored the trails, and even tried his hand at barrel racing during our last Charro ride! This big guy really can do a little bit of everything! 🐎💨

Rayban is a ranch favorite among both riders and wranglers. Whether you’re a beginner finding your confidence or an experienced rider looking for a dependable partner, Rayban is always ready to take care of you!

When he’s not busy being everyone’s favorite gentle giant, you can usually find him parked right in front of the hay feeder, happily snacking his day away. 🌾😂 And if you really want to make his day, give him a little pat while you’re riding! Rayban absolutely LOVES getting some extra affection from his riders. ❤️

Now, we can’t introduce Rayban without mentioning his very special nickname! Around the ranch, the wranglers lovingly call him “Eeyore” because of his hilariously big ears! 🫏😂 Those ears just add a little extra character to an already unforgettable horse!

From his oversized ears to his even bigger heart, Rayban is truly one of a kind. We couldn’t imagine the ranch without our sweet, snack-loving Eeyore! 🤎🐴
