Desert Heritage Arabians

Desert Heritage Arabians Straight Egyptian and Asil Arabians bred for performance, temperament and conformation.

Desert Heritage Arabians specializes in breeding outcross Straight Egyptian and Al Khamsa Arabians with the intentions of preserving genetic diversity in the narrowing gene pool while maintaining the exquisite quality of the Bedouin horse. DHA is home to some of the rarest Straight Egyptians featuring very little or no Nazeer in their pedigrees and also the almost-extinct El Deree tail mail line a

s well as Al Khamsa Arabian horses who's pedigrees feature bloodlines known as "Code Red" preservation horses including the Europa Ancestral Element, the *Samirah tail female line, and as mentioned, the El Deree tail male line.

The best time to preserve our history was ages ago. The second best time is now.

Hoof wall rings

If they are caused by unbalanced trimming then why does this full term still born foal have wall rings?

These feet have not been subjected to body weight, gravity or ground reaction forces.

No trimming.

Yet there are rings……

I would not be surprised if the mare had similar rings in a similar place.

Wall cells are fed by the coronary corium- a delicious bed of blood vessels delivering nutrients where they are needed.

I believe rings, in this case, are due to the changes in blood- nutrition, hormones, supplements - from the mares blood.

Not the trimmers rasp.

Straight Egyptians are more than pretty faces! I’m not sure how the misconception began that they were only good for halter šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø (Jeremy Reynolds’s mare isn’t SE, but the other horse featured is)

Here is the pedigree for Bak Jabari:

He’s triple Minstril. These horses are known to do well in endurance in South Africa. They are also highly trainable horses.

I’m also loving his up-close cross to Zaghloul.

Baroud and I have been progressing through our lessons - albeit slowly. Today, I loped on him for the first time postpartum and even rode out some crow hopping. It sounds silly, but it really boosted my confidence. I’ll be working on more under saddle time with him so we can make faster progress. He’s so athletic, I can’t wait to unlock his potential.
