This is a historic week for Arizona’s pets. With Senate Bill 1658, also known as Jerry’s Law, officially going into effect, our state has taken the most important step in the fight against animal cruelty in more than a decade.

This groundbreaking law better defines the bare minimum standards of care that every pet deserves and gives law enforcement the tools they need to act faster in egregious cases of cruelty. By strengthening Arizona’s animal cruelty statutes, Jerry’s Law will save vulnerable pet's lives every year.

We extend our gratitude to the legislators who championed this bill and stood up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Their leadership has created a safer, more compassionate Arizona for pets. While this victory is historic, our work is not done. The Arizona Humane Society will now focus on working hand-in-hand with local law enforcement to ensure these laws are enforced, and that every community across our state understands and upholds these new standards of care.

Our team closely monitors updates on the "mysterious respiratory dog illness" and has sought guidance from a clinical veterinarian. As of now, no cases have been reported in Arizona. However, we remain proactive and encourage pet owners to exercise continued caution. If your dog displays any signs of illness, we strongly recommend keeping them at home and seeking prompt medical attention.

At WAGS, safeguarding the well-being of your beloved pets is our daily commitment, and our mission is to consistently rise above the standard. Prior to appointments, we confirm the currency of pet vaccinations. Our commitment to hygiene is evident in the routine sanitization of our facilities after each pet visit. Our Specialists are all First Aid and CPR certified for Cats & Dogs. Most notably, our unique one-on-one grooming approach is designed to minimize interactions between pets from different families, ensuring a safe and personalized experience for each furry friend.
