Laverne would like to extend a message to our lovely community, and share a bit of her story.
"My life started out pretty tough. I was born outdoors to a brave street cat mom who did her best, but she didn’t have the food or safety she needed while carrying my litter. When a kind trapper brought us to the shelter, my siblings and I were weak, sickly, and fighting for every breath. Shelter staff knew that if we were released back outside, we wouldn't survive long. That’s when the wonderful team at Happy Tails stepped in to save our lives.
My brother Quasi had FIP, and I faced my own big battle: I couldn't gain weight. At just four months old, I had to undergo almost a full mouth dental extraction. Once those painful teeth were gone, I could finally eat and start growing!
It took three amazing foster moms guiding me through sick days and vet visits to get me here. Today, I'm a social, curious, and clever girl who loves playing with other cats, but my absolute favorite thing is being cuddled and petted.
Because of my rough start, I also have a sensitive tummy that requires ongoing vet care and tests. Between my dental surgery and digestive care, my medical bills have really added up. Happy Tails and Rescue Me Tucson need a little help covering these costs so I can stay healthy while I wait for my adoptive family.
