With this rain being NON-STOP the property just CAN NOT dry out, and I don't want the horses out in their turn out when it's that wet. So in this time of nature's adversity, investment and progress is the result. Sand delivered today for dry lots has me beyond ecstatic for a solution. More will be built, but for now I'm grateful for these two as a starting point.

I get behind on this stuff, but wanted to shout out a congratulations to Melinda and Marti once again for a great day at FENCE a couple weeks ago! A second and a fourth, with the second place score on the mid 70's!!! These two are such fun to train.

It was the perfect weekend for horses and riders to get out and about, and have some fun, so that's just what we did!! The crew headed to FENCE to see what the dressage judges had to say and we were quite pleased with the results! Melinda and her girl Marti strutted around with a well deserved blue ribbon after winning their class, and Sarah trusted me to continue to guide her horse Mick into a more confident state of mind, and he did way more than just show up when we finished with a fifth for his class. It was just so FUN and we look forward to next time!

This horse excites me! Having a ride that motivates is a game changer. It's been so cold, so wet, so dark etc, and that makes it difficult to push on sometimes. But one hour in the saddle with her makes me want more and more! Would love to see you with your unicorns in my comments!

A couple PSA hopefully someone may find useful!
1. A good farrier is essential. My farrier (and husband 😊) can change my horse from "no go" ouchie to ready set go in minutes. Explanation with the picture.
2. Don't over-assume what kind of horse you need or don't need. Often OTTB's are exiled from the list of potential. Along with young horses, old horses, mares, red heads etc. My OTTB is the COOLEST MARE, or horse in general, I could ask for! (Again, I expound with the photo) I'm so smitten with her. Not to mention a client of mine recently bought a chestnut, 3 yr old mare, which she said she wanted nothing to do with most of that criteria, and the horse is an absolute DREAM. They are in love with each other. The story repeats itself in other ways with other clients.
3. I found a saddle repair shop in Tryon, and they were reasonably priced, VERY FAST, very friendly, trusting and most of all, did a great job on my saddle. Sandhurst Leather.
4. If you have a horse that "interferes" in the back (yes, adjustments are regularly being made with shoeing to correct) turning this type of fetlock boot upside down protects the pasterns and the fetlocks! This is a miracle after all the product searching I unsuccessfully did!
