Recently At Deerfoot Animal Clinic we have been dealing with an unidentified, contagious, airborne respiratory infection. We have submitted 10 PCR respiratory panels and have not been able to identify the causative agent presently. Because this is the case we are taking steps to be proactive to stop the spread of this infection. We believe this is the best way to protect our clients' pets and staff pets. These steps include not accepting any boarders, baths or daycare dogs the week of June 8th thru June 15th. We understand this will cause some clients to be upset and perhaps the Social Media Warriors to make claims that are not true.

We believe this infection was brought into the kennel by one dog and has spread. This is an airborne organism that can travel on clothing, leashes, bowls. etc. In order to break the cycle we need to have no dogs within the clinic during this time. This is NOT from dirt or debris. We believe it may be a resistant, atypical kennel cough type organism, but even with the PCR tests we can not prove it at this time based on the testing that has been done.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and would appreciate a little understanding as we do our best to provide our clients pets as well as the greater public's pets' the best going forward.

We have a fantastic staff at Deerfoot Animal Clinic. I am proud to work with them. I can assure everyone We run a tight ship. We sanitize daily, actually numerous times a day- everyday. We take great pride in what we do at Deerfoot Animal Clinic. If someone is posting on Facebook we want to be sure the facts are correct. We are doing everything we can to protect your pets by taking these steps to make sure they are safe.

Police K-9 Rex is going viral after a school visit ended with him covered head to tail in colorful stickers. 🐾

While Rex’s handler spoke with teachers during a community outreach event, a group of kindergarten students quietly decided the patient German Shepherd needed a makeover.

Soon, Rex’s fur, ears, and even his official police vest were covered with stars, hearts, and smiley-face stickers.

But the best part?

Rex sat perfectly still the entire time, calmly soaking up all the attention like a true professional.

According to his handler, Rex was so comfortable in the classroom that he even leaned away when officers tried removing the stickers and seemed reluctant to leave.

Moments like this remind people why police K-9 programs often become such an important bridge between officers and the communities they serve. ❤️🐕

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers!!! We hope everyone has a great day!
