Recently At Deerfoot Animal Clinic we have been dealing with an unidentified, contagious, airborne respiratory infection. We have submitted 10 PCR respiratory panels and have not been able to identify the causative agent presently. Because this is the case we are taking steps to be proactive to stop the spread of this infection. We believe this is the best way to protect our clients' pets and staff pets. These steps include not accepting any boarders, baths or daycare dogs the week of June 8th thru June 15th. We understand this will cause some clients to be upset and perhaps the Social Media Warriors to make claims that are not true.
We believe this infection was brought into the kennel by one dog and has spread. This is an airborne organism that can travel on clothing, leashes, bowls. etc. In order to break the cycle we need to have no dogs within the clinic during this time. This is NOT from dirt or debris. We believe it may be a resistant, atypical kennel cough type organism, but even with the PCR tests we can not prove it at this time based on the testing that has been done.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and would appreciate a little understanding as we do our best to provide our clients pets as well as the greater public's pets' the best going forward.
We have a fantastic staff at Deerfoot Animal Clinic. I am proud to work with them. I can assure everyone We run a tight ship. We sanitize daily, actually numerous times a day- everyday. We take great pride in what we do at Deerfoot Animal Clinic. If someone is posting on Facebook we want to be sure the facts are correct. We are doing everything we can to protect your pets by taking these steps to make sure they are safe.
