For more than 40 years, Trumann Animal Clinic has been locally owned and a trusted part of the community.

When Doc opened the clinic, she knew that she wanted to serve the community with integrity and compassion that extended beyond the exam room.

When you choose a locally owned veterinary clinic over a corporate-owned one, you choose personalized care. You’re not just another appointment on a schedule; you’re a part of our clinic family.

Local clinics offer stronger continuity of care, allowing you to get to know your pet’s history, behavior, and unique needs over time. That kind of relationship leads to better, more attentive care.

It also means your dollars stay in the community. Locally owned clinics are more likely to be affordable, support neighborhood events, partner with shelters, and give back to the people and pets in their community. That impact adds up in meaningful ways.

Corporate-owned clinics can offer convenience, but locally owned practices offer connection, trust, and a level of dedication that comes from decades of service.

When you choose local, you’re supporting a legacy of care, one that’s been putting pets and people first for over 40 years.

Today is Hairball Awareness Day! 🐱

One of the essential aspects of hairball management is proper nutrition. Feeding cats a balanced diet rich in fiber to aid in the passage of ingested hair through the digestive system is key to preventing hairballs.

Effective grooming practices also play a crucial role in reducing the frequency and severity of hairballs in cats. Veterinarians encourage cat owners to implement regular grooming routines to help minimize the amount of loose fur ingested during self-grooming sessions. This may include brushing or combing cats with long or dense coats to remove loose hair, especially during seasonal shedding periods. By incorporating consistent grooming habits into their care routine, pet owners can significantly decrease the likelihood of hairball-related issues and contribute to their cat's overall well-being.

Pet Talk by Dr. Norette L. Underwood: Dryer Sheet Hazards for Pets- What Every Pet Owner Needs to Know

Pet owners are focused on keeping their dogs and cats safe. But one common household item that often gets overlooked is the dryer sheet. While it may seem harmless, dryer sheets can pose a serious risk to your pets if chewed, licked, or swallowed.

🐾 What Makes Dryer Sheets Dangerous to Pets
Dryer sheets contain chemicals designed to soften fabrics and reduce static. These include:

* Cationic detergents
* Fragrances and preservatives
* Fabric-softening agents

These substances can cause chemical irritation or burns when they come into contact with your pet’s mouth, skin, or digestive tract.

Pets often have easy access to laundry rooms, garages, and trash cans. Dogs and cats are naturally curious—and used dryer sheets, especially, may carry scents that attract them.

Even used dryer sheets still contain enough chemical residue to be harmful.

🐾 Signs Your Pet May Have Been Exposed

If your dog or cat gets into a dryer sheet, watch for:
* Excessive drooling or foaming
* Vomiting
* Pawing at the mouth
* Difficulty swallowing
* Redness or sores in the mouth
* Lethargy

In some cases, ingestion can also lead to a dangerous intestinal blockage, especially in smaller pets.

🐾 What To Do If Your Pet Eats a Dryer Sheet

If you suspect exposure:
1. Remove any remaining material from your pet’s mouth if it’s safe
2. Rinse their mouth gently with water
3. Do not induce vomiting unless directed
4. Call your veterinarian immediately
