🌡️ HEAT ADVISORY FOR THIS WEEK 🐾
With dangerous temperatures and heat index values expected across our area this week, Trumann Animal Control would like to remind everyone to take extra precautions to keep your pets safe.
🐶 Make sure pets always have access to fresh, cool water.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade if they must be outdoors. 🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
🐾 Remember that asphalt and concrete can become hot enough to burn paw pads. If it's too hot for the back of your hand for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle—even with the windows cracked. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly within minutes.
😓 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness, disorientation, or collapse. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area immediately, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, and seek veterinary care as soon as possible.
As temperatures continue to rise, please check on your own pets and look out for animals in your neighborhood. A few extra precautions can save a life.
Stay safe, stay cool, and help us keep Trumann's pets protected this week! ❤️🐾
