Not too bad for almost 14 weeks old! Pepper is still learning and so am I. We’re taking it one step at a time and learning together. I like using a paint roller with her right now because it gives her a good grip and makes it easy for her to carry.

And for everyone who thinks I’m terrible at calling 😂 I promise I don’t actually call like that. I just do it with her so it gets her attention and she knows she’s getting ready to retrieve. She’s catching on quick and I’m excited to see how she keeps progressing!

Pepper is definitely getting the hang of place training! She’s starting to understand that every time she gets on her place mat and sits, she gets rewarded with a treat. She’s catching on quick and making good progress!

Meet Pepper!

Pepper is my almost 12-week-old black Labrador. She originally came from Georgia, and I picked her up from Big Water Dreams Retrievers in Kentucky. I’m excited to see what she’s capable of. She’s just getting started with her training, and so far she’s been a fun, eager little pup with a lot of potential.

The plan is to put a solid foundation on her and see how she develops. As for her long-term future, that will depend on her health testing. If everything checks out, she may become part of the future of CMB Retrievers. If not, she’ll be trained and offered as a started dog to someone looking for a quality hunting companion and family dog.

I’m excited to watch her grow and see where the journey takes us. Stay tuned to follow Pepper’s progress!

Meet Jade!

Jade is my 7-year-old Lab and my personal hunting partner. Even at 7 years old, she’s still full of drive and loves every chance she gets to work. She’s been by my side while I continue learning and growing as a trainer, and every day we’re building a better team.

We’re always working on obedience, retrieving, and sharpening the skills that make a great duck dog. She’s taught me just as much as I’ve taught her, and I’m thankful to have a dog like her.

As CMB Retrievers continues to grow, stay tuned—there will be more dogs, more training, and plenty more to come. Thanks for following along and supporting CMB Retrievers!

Hi everyone! My name is Matthew Brooks, and I’m excited to officially introduce CMB Retrievers LLC.

I’ve always had a passion for Labrador Retrievers, duck hunting, and watching dogs reach their full potential. That passion is what inspired me to start this business. My goal is to provide honest, patient, and consistent training that helps dogs become confident companions at home and dependable partners in the field.

This is the beginning of an exciting journey, and I’m committed to continuing to learn, improve, and give every dog the care and attention it deserves. Whether you’re looking for basic obedience or a hunting retriever, I’d love the opportunity to help.
