We had a mom that lost her calf and a calf that needed a mom.
So… we try to pair the two up!
She’s willingly letting him nurse in the chute, hopefully they will bond and take to each other after a couple days.
Turning a sad situation into a little bit better situation!

We have several really nice bulls that I love… but Rizz takes the cake. This guy is my favorite.

Good old Sue amazed us again with another baby!
Sue is a Dexter cow that I have owned for 10 years and she was over 10 years old when I got her. Shes into her 20’s and although she isn’t in the best shape and definitely nothing pretty to look at, she is still going strong and hasn’t missed a year!
We did decide to help her raise her baby due to the concern of milk quality at that age and wanting to let Sue focus on keeping herself healthy.
I feel like he looks like a Sam, so we’re going with that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Educational Post!

Calves are like kids! It doesn't always matter how friendly or halter broke they are, to be that way when you get them home. This guy right here would lead and walk on a lead all day long, you could walk up and pet or brush him, and he would follow you anywhere for feed. Would follow a 4 yr old around and let her pet or brush him. BUT when he went to his new home, he wouldnt let them touch him or even come to them for feed for a full day. I mean honestly if some stranger came and took your kid, you expect them to immediately take up with them?? NO! Somes shy, Somes timid, some just need some time to adjust and yes same with kids & calves some dont meet a stranger and nothing bothers them. Their all different! But that does not mean the breeders didn't do their part😊

~ They made friends the second day and he's getting back to his normal self🥰

We need unique name suggestions - her mom is Sriracha and dad is Rally.
We’ve gone through hundreds of names so think outside of the box 😜

And then we finished off the day with two babies!

Sriracha had a perfect little yellow heifer.
Mama is 4 years old and only 40” tall, that baby is tiny and beautiful like her mama!

#22 is a surrogate cow in our embryo transfer program but this year she gave us a little beef baby.

We had a blast at the Santa Fe Community Market grand opening today in Temple!
Pip was a hit and a total rockstar standing like a statue for hundreds of people to pet her. 🥰

It’s almost your time to shine, buddy!

Rizz turns 2 years old in three weeks. He gets to start his breeding career this winter and I can’t wait to see his babies!!

Rizz was an embryo transfer calf out of a beautiful white cow that we had, Bunny, and sired by Silver Splendor. His mom unexpectedly passed before Rizz was born and he was the last embryo we had left from her. So he’s pretty special to us!

When the babies that you bred and raised are having babies, it’s a whole new level of excitement!
This girl was born in November of 2022 out of Iris and Tex and is just now barely 40” tall (chondro negative).
She is expecting her first calf any day!
