Leachianus geckos (often called “Leachies”) are truly giants of the gecko world

Did you know they are the largest gecko species on Earth? Some can grow up to 14–17 inches long and have a thick, heavy build that really sets them apart from other geckos.

Despite their impressive size, their care is surprisingly similar to crested geckos! They thrive in humid enclosures, enjoy climbing space, and can eat many of the same fruit-based diets. Of course, they need a bit more room and a sturdier setup to match their strength.

Native to New Caledonia, these geckos are known for their unique bark-like appearance, which helps them blend perfectly into tree trunks in the wild.

Big, bold, and full of personality—Leachianus geckos are an incredible species for reptile enthusiasts who are ready for a larger arboreal companion.
