Yesterday was about more than Halloween costumes, cute dogs, and a ridiculous amount of treats. It was about celebrating two very special dogs and the community that is being built by sharing the lives of your dogs.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Folded Ear for photos, snacks and a TON of laughs! The nail trims from PAWsome were a success too! I hope your pups are enjoying their goodies from Royal BethAnn's snack bar. I know my girl would have fully supported an afternoon dedicated to spoiling dogs with snacks.

I also want to acknowledge the incredible kindness so many of you have shown me since losing Royal. The texts, emails, messages, and cards have meant more than I can explain. I know I haven't responded to everyone yet. I'm struggling, and just getting through the day is about all I've got in me right now. But please know I've read your words, and I appreciate every single one of you for thinking of your pup‘s bestie right now 🩷

My friend, and business partner on the boarding side, Jason also wanted to thank everyone who has reached out following the loss of his beloved Moose, the face of Folded Ear, just two weeks ago. Moosers was an excellent boy, and if he liked you, then you were greeted with a wagging tail and demand for a cookie, and then a demand to play ball. I imagine he and Royal Beth had a lot to say to each other about yesterday.

Royal BethAnn and Moose have both been included in these Halloween photos posthumously. These two dogs played very different but incredibly important roles in the stories behind Blockheads & Bows and Folded Ear, and neither was going to miss out on the Halloween festivities.

This Saturday, we’re celebrating our magical unicorn girl by giving other dogs their moment in the spotlight. In her honor, we’re hosting FREE Halloween photos for your pups!

🎃💀👻 LET'S MAKE THIS HALLOWEEN ONE TO REMEMBER! 💀👻🎃

This year's costume contest is going to be extra special, as I am dedicating it to the memory of my beloved Royal BethAnn Tilton-Levstek.

Royal has been such a huge part of my life for the last 7 years. She is my heart, and 1/2 of the story behind Blockheads & Bows. As Royal, Dean and I prepare to say goodbye, I want to fill these final days with as much love, laughter, and as many beautiful memories as possible.

Next week, I'll be spending my final days with my girl, spoiling her rotten, soaking up every moment, and making memories that I'll carry with me forever. We will say our final goodbye on October 9th at 9 am.

Because of this, I will be completely unavailable from Wednesday, October 7th, through the morning of Saturday, October 10th. I will not be responding to calls, texts, messages, or business inquiries during this time. My heart and my attention will be right where they belong: with my girl. I appreciate everyone's love, patience, and understanding more than words can express.

Now, in true Royal fashion, let's talk about the FUN!

I am inviting all our furry friends to dress up, show off their personalities, and help us celebrate the joy our dogs bring into our lives. Whether your pup is spooky, silly, ridiculously adorable, or completely unhinged, we want to see it!

PAWsome nail trimming will also be joining us from 1–3 PM, starting at $20 for nail trims. Danielle is an experienced vet tech and is amazing with dogs. She was also Royal’s foster mom 🩷

This isn't just a costume contest. It's a celebration of our dogs, our community, and the unconditional love they give us every single day. And for me, it's also a way to honor a very special girl who will never fade from my heart, or our business.

So dress up those dogs, bring your best Halloween spirit, and help me celebrate Royal's legacy with a whole lot of love, laughter, and ridiculous costumes. My girl may not be here for the next Halloween, but her legacy, her sass, and the love she inspired will always be part of Blockheads & Bows.

For the next three weeks, I am going to be selfish.

Five years ago, I built Blockheads & Bows as a love letter to my two babies Enzo Marley, Attorney at Paw, and Doctor Royal BethAnn, Chief of Stuffy Surgery.

They were, and remain, the entire reason I wanted to build something where I could care for other people’s dogs with the same ridiculous amount of love, patience, protection and devotion that I have always given my own.

Five years later, that little love letter has become so much more than I ever imagined. It has become a community of people who trust me with the most important members of their families. And every single day, I am incredibly grateful for that.

This week, I took Royal to her special vet Dr. Jo, and then followed up her suggestion to get Royal some x-rays the next day at our traditional veterinary office. I was given the news every pet parent eventually dreads.

It is time.

I have made the decision to let Royal go peacefully on October 9th.

I don't know how to adequately explain what the next three weeks are going to feel like. Royal has been beside me through the entire life of this business. She has been part of the story from the very beginning. She is one of the 2 reasons Blockheads & Bows exists at all.

So for the next three weeks, I am going to spend as much time with her as I possibly can.

That means I will be taking limited new requests. I may say no to things I would normally say yes to. I may have fewer openings. And I am going to do everything I possibly can to soak up every minute I have left with my girl.

I know that may be inconvenient for some of you, and I truly appreciate your understanding.

But if you have ever trusted me with your dog, recommended my business, shared a post, booked a visit, sent me a Christmas card, checked on Enzo and Royal, or simply supported this crazy little business of mine, please know that you have been part of this love letter too.

You have allowed me to build a life around loving animals. And now, I need a little time to love one of my own. Thank you for giving me the space to do that. For the next three weeks, Royal gets every minute I can give her. Then, when it is time, I will carry her with me into whatever comes next.

Blockheads & Bows started because of these two. It will always belong to Royal BethAnn and Enzo Marley.
