Planning a camping trip with your furry friend this season? Before you pack up the tent, make sure your pet is just as prepared for the adventure as you are! According to the National Park Service, a little planning goes a long way in keeping your pet safe and happy outdoors.

✔️ Check the rules – Not all campgrounds or trails allow pets, and some areas have restrictions.
✔️ Visit your vet first – Make sure your pet is up-to-date on vaccines and protected from fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
✔️ ID is a must – A secure collar, ID tags, and microchipping help ensure your pet can be returned if they wander off.
✔️ Pack the essentials – Food, water, bowls, leash, waste bags, towels, and a pet first aid kit are must-haves.
✔️ Keep them safe at camp – Always use a leash, never leave pets unattended, and be mindful of wildlife and other campers.

Camping can be an amazing bonding experience, but it’s important to know your pet’s limits. If the trip may be too stressful or physically demanding, it’s okay to consider other options for their care.

Arthritis doesn’t just affect dogs, cats can develop it too, and the signs are often easy to miss. Cats are experts at hiding pain, so subtle changes in behavior may be the only clue something is wrong.

Here are some common signs to watch for:
🐱 Changes in movement – Hesitation to jump, climb stairs, or run
🐱 Behavior changes – Sleeping more, decreased appetite, or avoiding the litterbox
🐱 Grooming changes – Matted or unkempt coat, or overgrooming sore joints
🐱 Temperament shifts – Becoming irritable, less social, or hiding more often

If your cat “just isn’t acting like themselves,” it could be more than aging, it may be arthritis. The good news is there are ways to help! From pain management to environmental changes at home, we can work together to keep your cat comfortable and maintain their quality of life.
