Diabetes is a disease caused by a lack of insulin, the hormone that regulates how sugar is absorbed and used by the cells within the body. It is most often seen in dogs between the ages of 5 and 7, with female dogs being more susceptible than males. Every dog is unique, but keeping an eye out for irregularities in your dog’s behavior is key to determining if your dog may be at risk. Watch out for extreme thirst, frequent urination, notable exhaustion, and lower than normal activity, and obesity. Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and kindness during this difficult time. The support from our Oceanside family means more than we can express.

Dr. Bustard is currently still in Canada with her family following the passing of her grandfather and will continue to be away through Tuesday. As a result, we will be unable to offer doctor appointments until Wednesday.

The office will remain open from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM for medication pickups, nail trim appointments, and a**l gland expression appointments.

Amy and Maddie will be reaching out to clients with scheduled appointments to assist with rescheduling. If you have an upcoming appointment and would like to reschedule sooner, please feel free to call, email, or stop by the clinic.

Polydactyl cats are born with extra toes, most often on their front paws. It’s a genetic trait and is usually completely harmless, just an extra dose of cute. That said, those extra toes can come with a few care considerations. More toes means more nails to trim, and sometimes they grow at different angles or are easier to snag if not maintained. Most polydactyl cats live totally normal, healthy lives, but regular paw checks and nail trims are important to keep them comfortable.
