Soot needs your help! Soot is a very loveable, cuddly guy who has been hanging out in our intake area while we figure out why his ear is irritating him. He has a mass just behind his ear and we have had some testing done to know that it does not appear to be malignant. Our veterinarian has recommended a CT scan so we know what the mass is before removal and Soot no longer has to live in pain. The CT scan alone is going to be about $3000. Would you consider giving to our Feel Better Fund to support a CT scan for Soot?

During the month of August, for every reusable bag purchased at Edwards Brothers Supermarket in Trenton, the SPCA of Hancock County receives $1!
All funds we raise go towards the care of our animals like Schoodic Parker. Schoodic Parker was brought to us as a stray by some very amazing people. She has some health issues and spent her first day with us at the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic getting checked out. She still has a ways to go, but she is getting a little bit better every day!
We cannot express how much we appreciate all of the support!

Stanley Subaru very generously lent us their photo booth for Wine and Whiskers and we had a BLAST! And they provided the shuttle service too?! What amazing partners!
Thank to everyone who came and participated. We are still adding up some totals and putting items in the hands of auction winners, but what a great night! Thanks to all who came, bid, shared, and enjoyed with us!

Let's talk about our Pet of the Week: Kennebec!
Kenny came to us as she was not getting along with the other cat and dog in the home and when she got to the shelter, it is fair to say that she was SPICY. She probably would've been rated as a Carolina Reaper. But, our amazing animal care staff invested time and patience and discovered that poor Kenny was just constantly overstimulated. It's hard to relax when everything is overstimulating you. She is currently talking gabapentin daily and she has let her loving, playful side show. Don't get us wrong, she still has her spicy moments, but now she is more of a poblano/jalapeno level of spice. Just enough to keep things interesting! She loves getting pets and giving kisses - but she loves her crunchy treats the most.
Things to know about Kenny:
🐾Kenny is 9 years old
🐾she absolutely MUST be the only animal in the home
🐾she is large and expects to be in charge, meaning she likes to get attention and petting how and when she likes it (like many cats!)
🐾she takes her daily meds without complaint

Tickets for the 3rd annual Critter Cruise are now available!
⛴️Join us on September 13th at 5 p.m. (sharp!) aboard the Acadian, a 65-foot vessel accommodating 125 people with indoor and outdoor seating, an upper and lower deck, and two restrooms.
⛴️The event includes Happy Hour hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. All proceeds support the SPCA.
Special thanks to Acadian Boat Tours for donating the boat ride to benefit SPCA-HC for the third year in a row.

Happy DOGust, or the universal birthday for shelter dogs! We at the SPCA-HC would like to wish a "Happy Birthday" to all of our four legged friends, like , whether they celebrate a known birthdate, a "gotcha" day, or today! We plan to give all of the pups in our care a special treat to celebrate them today.
