🖤💙🖤🐾We Have a Name… Meet CinTeq! 🐾🖤💙🖤

A huge thank you to everyone who offered name suggestions. We loved reading them all, but one name carried a story that was simply too meaningful not to choose.

“CinTeq” is a name created to honor two Belgian Malinois whose memories continue to live on through those who knew and loved them.

“Cin” comes from K9 Officer Cinch of the Kirklin Police Department in Indiana. Officer Cinch was the first K9 to receive a bulletproof vest through a nonprofit chapter dedicated to protecting police K9s. He enjoyed a long retirement with his handler and passed peacefully at home on May 18, 2020. His vest itself honored retired Military Working Dog Bak, creating a legacy of service and remembrance.

“Teq” comes from K9 Tequila, a Belgian Malinois who served in the private security sector in Germany. Tequila was critically injured in a vehicle crash while working and passed from her injuries on October 13, 2017. Though her handler survived, her loss left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

The person who suggested the name shared that these two K9s meant a great deal to him through his work with a police K9 vest charity and his service as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He said that if he ever owned a Malinois himself, CinTeq would be the name.

We couldn’t think of a better way to honor the brave military and law enforcement K9s who have served so faithfully.

So, officially…Laeknir’s CinTeq will be on his registration papers. His new family, of course, will decide his “call name.”

It’s midnight, and I’m scrolling countless sites and groups and searches, looking for any possible sightings of Saga. It’s been sleepless nights since we found out she was missing. No confirmed sightings since the 19th of May. Trying not to move into the space of believing she’s actually gone. Losing a dog seems almost harder than saying goodbye. It’s the not knowing. The wondering if she’s okay...if she’s suffering….if she’s even alive. Just being real here. We keep hoping that someone somewhere will see her or have her somehow and contact us. But for tonight, I’ll keep scrolling and searching and missing our sweet girl.

🚔 K9 DONATION OPPORTUNITY FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES 🚔

The Laeknir K9 Foundation is currently seeking law enforcement agencies interested in receiving donated working K9 prospects from our newest litter.

These puppies are the offspring of two imported, proven Explosive Detection K9s with strong working pedigrees and demonstrated performance in the field. The litter has shown exceptional drive, environmental confidence, toy engagement, and trainability from an early age.

Each puppy comes from health-tested parents and is being raised with a focus on sound genetics, stable temperament, and working ability.

These are green puppies and will require agency training and development. However, they represent an outstanding opportunity for departments looking to build future detection, patrol, tracking, or dual-purpose K9 programs while significantly reducing acquisition costs.

Our mission is to help place high-quality working dogs into the hands of agencies that need them, particularly those serving rural and under-resourced communities.

Agencies interested in learning more are encouraged to contact us directly. We would be happy to discuss the litter, evaluate your program’s needs, and determine whether one of these prospects may be a good fit.
