One Smart Dog I come to you! Basic training, behavior issues, owner-trained service dog assistance, puppy training - start early! Hello. My name is Meghan Giacopelli.

We relocated to Missouri when I was 13 years old. My passion for dogs and their behavior started when I was having trouble with bullies in my teens. My parents got me a puppy to help with the depression I was experie

ncing. His name was Sam and he loved me. He listened to me. He was my best friend. I knew he was listening by watching his body language. I was an Oncology Nurse for several years before I moved to dog training. A lot was changing in nursing at that time and it just wasn't what I loved about it anymore. I first started working at the local animal shelter as a volunteer. I worked mostly with dogs that were unsocialized and had other behavior problems. In a couple of years I became the shelter's Animal Care Specialist. I was in charge of the animals' mental and physical well being, as well as the shelter's adoption counselor. A couple of years later I accepted the General Manager post. I loved the job, but I wasn't able to spend as much time one-on-one with the dogs. That is why I decided to do private, in-home dog training, where I feel I can be of most help to dogs and their owners/guardians. My favorite dog related reading is The Other End of the Leash by Patricia B. McConnell, Ph.D. She is my favorite animal behaviorist. She also has published important booklets. I learned a lot about separation anxiety with I'll Be Home Soon and The Cautious Canine for dogs that have fear issues. Meghan Giacopelli -

Why train older dogs? Basic training can be a great bonding experience for both the owner and the dog. It helps stimulate their minds. Most older dogs enjoy the training and getting praise for a job well done! I can usually modify training to accommodate dogs with limitations - hearing, sight, mobility.

*******I will be taking a break from dog training so I can focus on training my own service dog. We are going on a trip in July and I need to make sure she is in top form so she can fly with me on the plane.
If you are having serious issues with fear or aggression, I may consider a pay per visit situation. (Trenton only) 660 334 1138.
