Meet Bruno: Our Honorary Naked Mole Rat

When Bruno first came to us, he was almost completely naked! But as his beautiful coat starts growing back, we’re getting to see more and more of the handsome boy hiding underneath. 🥹✨ And let us tell you, his personality is just as lovely as his glow-up!

Bruno is a 7-year old sweet, gentle soul who is ready to trade his naked mole rat era for a life full of love, cozy naps, sweaters, toys, and a family of his very own. ❤️

He’s proof that sometimes the best glow-ups aren’t just about looks — they’re about watching a sweet boy come out of his shell, too. 🐾

Millie the barn kitty says "good morning!"

Well... maybe not "good" morning. Maybe just "Morning". She's a little cranky in the mornings... but aren't we all??

Anyway, Millie is a 2-3yo barn kitty looking for a forever barn/garage! 🚜 She is very similar to a sour patch kid... sweet AND sour, pretty much simultaneously. She loves that you feed her, she loves that you care for her, but she would very much like you to love her from afar.

She has had a litter of kittens here in the shelter and watched them grow up and be adopted out. But she has a slightly different idea of the perfect home than her kittens... she'd prefer a heated shed where she can hunt mice and live an unbothered life. 🐭 She might not be the barn cat that runs up to socialize with you when you come home, but she'll be your best employee!

Millie is a special kind of sass and we love her regardless and we hope to find her the best possible home that fits her needs.

We’re in need of WET AND DRY PUPPY FOOD for our youngest shelter residents!

We currently have young paws and growing bellies to feed, and keeping our puppies healthy, happy, and well-fed takes a LOT of food! As our little ones grow, they need proper nutrition to help them thrive and get ready for their forever homes. 🐾

If you have a little extra to spare, we would be SO grateful for donations of:

I can’t believe we forgot to post about our Washington District Llbrary event!!

We had a blast with multiple kitties who were able to get out and socialize with one of the best communities Tazewell County has to offer ❤️

We are always so grateful for the donations that come from this event and how amazing the community members are with the cats. Some of these kitties have already been adopted but we wanted to post to say thank you! 🐈🐈‍⬛

Happy National Black Dog Day 2026! 🐾

Chase is a 7yo German Shepherd. He's a VERY talkative boy who has been bored here in the shelter! He needs a big yard to play in and would love to play ball ALL DAY. 🥎

Midnight is a 1yo pitty mix. Mixed with what you ask? No idea. Something long and lanky 😆 He's a little shy at first but he warms up after some yummy treats!
