A happy horse = a happy ride (even if they’re a little dramatic about it 😂).

This is extremely important, as I’ve personally experienced this with my own horses. If you have any concerns about the quality of your hay, it’s always best to consult your veterinarian or reach out to a qualified specialist for guidance.

Additionally, for horses that are working to gain weight, PEMF therapy may be a beneficial support tool. By promoting improved circulation, it can help enhance nutrient absorption and overall condition!

If you believe that horses need grain in their diet to meet their nutritional needs, you are not alone. However, horses should get most of their nutrients from a good quality forage source such as grass, hay, hay pellets, or a complete feed.

Horses generally eat between 1.5-2% of their body weight each day, so an average size 1,000 lbs horse should eat 15- 20 lbs of hay daily. To help fill any nutrient gaps such as essential vitamins or minerals, a ration balancer may be beneficial. Depending on breed, body condition, and exercise level, concentrates may be added in to provide additional energy but are often not needed.

When deciding on what to feed your horse, it is best to invest in high quality forages as the foundation of your feeding plan. You can even have your hay tested to see exactly what nutrients it is providing.

Please consult with your veterinarian or an equine nutritionist about your horse's diet before making any major changes, and remember that any changes should be made gradually over time to avoid GI upset.

Oh how I love this time of year! With summer right around the corner, barns are filling with energy as families and young exhibitors get back into the rhythm of preparing their livestock for show season!😆

If they’re yawning… we’re winning 😌🐴

One of my favorite signs during a NorthWave Wellness session is that slow, relaxed yawn. It’s often a beautiful moment of release — tension softening, muscles letting go, and the nervous system settling into calm.

These two mini horses, oh wait… I mean dogs enjoyed their time with the Magnawave! 🤣

Important reminder, Stretch time = happy horse time!

Stretching helps keep your horse loose, comfy, and moving like a rockstar. It boosts flexibility, eases sore muscles, improves balance and posture, and helps prevent those “uh-oh” injuries. Plus, it gets the blood flowing, melts away tension, and gives you a sweet moment to bond and check in with their body. A few gentle stretches can go a long way!

Look at this crazy before and after! I started working with Brady back in August, after about 4.5 months we have noticed Brady’s immense amount of weight gain, bearing more weight on his back legs verse consistently holding them up, and even a pep in his step!

Working alongside Horse North Rescue has been an incredible journey, deepening my knowledge and allowing me to share my passion with others. It's been an invaluable experience!
