Stewardship is not a word we use as a slogan.
Every dog in our program has been entrusted to us. To raise well. To breed deliberately. To place with people who will honor the work.
That responsibility shapes the whole program. It is why we test before we place. It is why we screen applicants. It is why we hold a puppy back rather than send it to the wrong home.
The breed deserves better than what most of it has become. So do the families that bring one home.
This litter is part of a calling. We take it seriously.

Meet Shasta.
Shasta is social, steady, and physically resilient. Her Volhard test showed strong people connection, good follow, balanced restraint, and good stability. She handles life well — vet visits, grooming, kids learning boundaries, the normal pressure of a household.

Her touch sensitivity score points to a tougher physical foundation. She handles pressure without folding. That matters.

Her question mark is retrieve. She did not chase the object in this test. That is not a verdict. It is a signal that we need to keep testing her prey, possession, and play drive separately before we call her a confirmed working prospect.

Best fit for Shasta: a steady, structured family home that wants a connected, stable German Shepherd. Strong companion, obedience, or service prospect. Working potential is possible — we will know more as her drive develops.

A puppy test is not a label. It is a roadmap. Shasta has connection, confidence, and stability. Those are tools in the hands of the right owner.

That is four. All four puppies tested, named, and ready for placement to the right homes.

Meet Lila.

Lila is the people-connected one. Her Volhard test showed strong social attraction, willingness to follow, good handler interest, and cooperative retrieve. She wants to be with people. She wants to engage.

She also showed sound sensitivity and a stronger startle response to a strange object. That tells us she needs a calm, steady home that will build her environmental confidence with patience and structure.

Lila is not a puppy to pressure. She is a puppy to guide. Build wins, give exposure in short sessions, let her learn that the world is predictable and the handler is fair. Confidence is built, not demanded.

Best fit for Lila: a steady, intentional owner. Calm household. Someone who values training and is willing to put in confidence work. She would not do well in a chaotic environment or with a heavy-handed handler.

Her people connection is real. Her sensitivities are real. The right home will help her become who she is capable of becoming.

Meet Pinks.
If Bluebell is the confident handler-driven puppy in this litter, Pinks is the balanced one. Her Volhard scores tell us what we want to see in a working-line puppy that is not also overdriven.

Strong social attraction. Good follow. Stable nerves. Excellent recovery. When we did the stability test — a strange object dropped near her — Pinks did not avoid. She moved toward it. That is good nerve. That is the response we want.
She is touch-resilient. Her sound and sight responses are stable and curious. Her structure is sound.

Best fit for Pinks: active, structured home with training intent. Sport prospect, family working dog, or a serious companion home that will develop her. Not a passive home — she has enough drive to need a job, and confidence without leadership becomes pushiness.

Pinks is balanced. Pinks is stable. That is harder to find than people realize.

Meet Bluebell.

Volhard read: confident, people-focused, assertive. Strong handler engagement, good object interest, solid environmental recovery. A puppy that wants to do something with you.

Bluebell is not a soft placement. She is not a casual one. She showed enough drive, social attraction, and follow behavior to call her a real working-line prospect.
The thing to know about her is touch sensitivity. She responds quickly to physical pressure. That is not a problem — it is information. Bluebell needs leadership, not force. Structure, not harshness. A clear, fair, steady handler.

Best fit for Bluebell: experienced German Shepherd owner, sport or working-minded handler, active family with training intent, or a property home that will give her work.

She is not a beginner's dog. In the right hands, she has the makings of a strong, loyal, useful German Shepherd.

Every puppy in this litter has been tested.

The Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test is a standardized evaluation done at seven weeks. It looks at how a puppy responds to people, restraint, sound, sight, touch, strange objects, and recall. The scores are not averaged. Each one tells you something specific about the puppy.

Here is what the test actually tells us:
Is this puppy people-driven, or independent?
Does she recover from a startle, or shut down?
Is she physically tough, or touch-sensitive?
Will she follow a handler, or self-direct?
That information matters because it lets us match the right puppy to the right home. A confident, high-drive puppy goes to a structured handler. A sensitive, people-connected puppy goes to a steady home.
Wrong match, wrong outcome.
Most breeders skip the test. We don't.

Starting next week, you will meet each of the four puppies in this litter — Bluebell, Pinks, Lila, and Shasta. Their Volhard read, their temperament, and the kind of home each one needs.

Meet the sire.
Ak Vaimet Sampson Von Dietrich. Born 2018. Working-line German Shepherd from the Von Dietrich Kennel. Sire: Browning Von Dietrich. Dam: Deborah Blitzkrieg.

Sampson carries proven Czech working-line bloodlines through his pedigree. OFA hips and elbows. DM clear. Sound structure, stable nerves, switched-on for the handler.

Drive that reads the way you want it to read on a real working-line dog. Prey, hunt, recovery, environmental confidence. Stable in the home.

The reason we paired Ruzena with Sampson is the standard Stephanitz set in 1899 — utility and intelligence. Two parents that hold it. Four puppies that inherit it.

This is Ruzena.
Ruzena Ringer Von Dietrich. Born 2022. Raised in our home. Mother of this litter.

Behind her stand Eliza, Franziska, and three generations of working-line sires that brought her here. Her sire is Lear, a direct Czech import working line. Her dam is Franziska, who we raised from a puppy in this house.

That kind of pedigree does not happen by accident. It happens because someone, generation after generation, refused to compromise the standard. Ruzena carries that. She passes it on. The four puppies in this litter are her contribution to a line of dogs we have been building for over a decade.

Behind this litter stand four generations.
The dam is Ruzena Ringer Von Dietrich, our fourth-generation female, raised in this home like the three before her: Eliza, Franziska, and now Ruzena. Each one paired with care.
The sire is Ak Vaimet Sampson Von Dietrich, of the Von Dietrich Kennel, carrying proven Czech working-line bloodlines. Across our program, two sires trace to direct Czech imports and one comes from a prized kennel. All of them proven. None of them shortcuts.
This is a pedigree most American buyers never see on a litter from a small program. We did not assemble it quickly. We built it one generation at a time.
