The world around us is constantly changing. What was once considered right is now called wrong, and what was once considered wrong is increasingly celebrated.

It’s easy to stand firm in our convictions when we’re surrounded by those who share them but it’s a little different when standing firm means standing apart.

The world will always have its opinions, expectations, and pressures. But our responsibility as Christians isn’t to gain the approval of the world. It’s to remain faithful to the truth God has entrusted to us.

Truth doesn’t become less true simply because fewer people are willing to stand upon it. What many fail to realize is, the truth of God’s Word doesn’t change with the opinions of man.

As Christians, we aren’t called to adjust our convictions to fit the world around us. We’re called to stand firm in the truth we’ve been given, even when doing so isn’t popular or easy.

Even through the fiercest of opposition we need to stand firm and have faith!

Yesterday, we experienced one of the harder realities of raising animals. We knew one of our females was about to whelp a “singleton” pup but what didn’t expect was for it to be stillborn.

Unfortunately, loss is part of life. It’s something none of us can escape, regardless of how much we love, care for, or try to protect those around and entrusted to us.

As Christians, we’re never promised a life free from sorrow. What we are promised is that we won’t have to walk through it alone.

God doesn’t always remove the things that bring us heartache, nor does He always reveal His purpose in allowing them. But He does promise to be near when our hearts are hurting.

Sometimes, the lesson isn’t found in understanding the loss, but in how we respond to it.

Yesterday, I watched our daughters carefully carry this little puppy to a grave I’d prepared. They picked flowers, laid them beside it, and showed love and compassion for a life that never had the opportunity to take its first breath.

Through their actions I was reminded that even in loss, God gives us opportunities to demonstrate the love and compassion He has shown us.

We may not always understand His plan, but we can always trust His heart and realize that in the most difficult seasons of life, there are opportunities to reflect the goodness of God.

The best days in the field are built on a whole lot of days nobody sees.

The reality is, it’s a group effort. It isn’t just the miles covered and birds put in front of our dogs on the training field.

It’s also the hours put in by the team that researches, makes, quality checks, packs, ships, and does everything in between to get the food we feed into our hands. Their unseen work helps us give our dogs the nutrition they need to do what we ask of them.

I may never hunt or test alongside most of them, but in a way, they’re with us on every hunt and in every field we step into.

Raising, training, and hunting bird dogs has always been a team effort. We’re thankful to have Inukshuk Professional Dog Food as part of ours.

It’s been a busy show so far, with great conversations with handlers, trainers and working K9 professionals from across the country.
Brian, from Oak Hill Malinois and David, from Faith in the Point, are on site representing Inukshuk and talking performance nutrition with the people who know what working dogs demand.

Patience isn’t the same as standing still.
While you may grow impatient in waiting for the Lord, there’s still work to be done while we wait. There’re still responsibilities to tend to, lessons to learn, prayers to pray, and steps of faith to take.
James tells us to be patient, but he also tells us to establish our hearts.
Plant your feet. Settle your heart on what you know to be true, and to keep doing the work God has placed in front of you, even when you can’t yet see what He is doing with it.
We may not know how long the wait will be, but we know Who we’re waiting on and we know His timing is perfect.

Being a dad is less about simply teaching your children the things you know, and more about trying to show them how to live, how to love, how to follow God, how to work, and how appreciate the tings that truly matter.
At times it can be a difficult job, but it’s the greatest one I’ve ever been blessed with.

Someday she probably won’t remember where every shot landed. But I pray she’ll always remember who was by her side her while she was learning, because I will.

I’m not sure she’ll ever know how many hard days she’s made better with that smile.

One day I won’t be standing beside her showing her where to hold, where to aim, or what to look for.
But until then, I’m going to soak up every chance I get.

I’ve been blessed to do some pretty incredible things in this life. But if you ask me what I’m most proud of, the answer isn’t complicated. It’s them.
