Happy Labor Day weekend from all of us at Alpine Mobile Veterinary Services!
This weekend we celebrate the dedication and hard work of everyone who keeps our community running. We hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday.
If you are planning to fire up the grill this Labor Day, remember that many barbecue favorites can be dangerous for our furry family members.
Keep these safety tips in mind:
- Never leave pets unattended near a hot grill
- Never share cooked bones with your pets as they can splinter and cause choking and intestinal injuries.
- Corn cobs are a common cause of intestinal blockages and should always be kept out of reach.
- Foods containing onions, garlic, chives should not be shared with pets as can they can be toxic.
- Grapes and raisins like we typically put in our fruit salads can cause kidney failure in dogs.
- Sugar-free desserts containing xylitol can be extremely toxic. Keep these items out of reach of pets.
- Alcohol can quickly become dangerous for pets, even in small amounts.
- Secure your trash. Greasy leftovers, skewers, foil, and food wrappers can all lead to emergency veterinary visits.
The safest “BBQ treat” for your pet is one prepared just for them, or simply sticking to their regular diet.

Have a fun and safe Labor Day
As a reminder Alpine Mobile Veterinary Services will be closed 9/7/26 in honor of Labor Day.

About 1 year ago, Alpine Mobile Veterinary Services officially hit the road, and somehow we are already celebrating our first anniversary!
When Alpine first started, we knew we wanted to provide high quality veterinary care in the comfort of our patients homes. What we didn’t know was just how many wonderful families would open their doors to us and how much a mobile veterinarian was needed in our community.
This first year has brought wellness visits, sick pets, dentals, surgeries, diagnostics, feral cat spay and neuter days, new puppies and kittens, senior pets, happy endings, and some of the hardest goodbyes. Every visit has been a little different, and every patient has left an impression on us.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted Alpine over this past year. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes, trusting us with your pets, recommending us to friends and family, and allowing us to do what we love every day.
Here’s to one year at Alpine Veterinary Services, and hopefully many more!
Thank you for coming along for the ride!

Vaccines do more than protect your pet. They can help protect other animals, your family, and our community too!
Dogs and cats don’t all have the same vaccine needs. Their vaccine recommendations can depend on their age, lifestyle, and potential exposure risks.
For dogs, vaccines like DA2PP, Rabies, and Leptospirosis provide important core protection. Vaccines like Bordetella and Canine Influenza may be recommended based on your pet’s individual risk.
For cats FVRCP and Rabies are important core vaccines. FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) is important for kittens and young cats. FeLV is recommended to adult cats depending of their exposure risk.

Is your pet due for vaccines or have questions on your pet’s vaccine needs?

Happy Fourth of July Weekend from all of us at Alpine Mobile Veterinary Services!

We hope you and your family have a fun, safe, and memorable holiday.

As you celebrate, don’t forget that fireworks can be frightening and even dangerous for our furry family members.

Here are a few ways to keep them safe:
-Keep pets indoors during fireworks
-Create a quiet, comfortable space with the TV or music on to help mask loud noises
-Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up-to-date in case your pet becomes frightened and escapes
-Keep holiday foods, alcohol, fireworks, and glow sticks out of reach

From our family to yours, have a safe and Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

Heat stroke is a life threatening emergency that happens much faster than many pet owners realize.
As temperatures rise here in Northern California it’s important to recognize warning signs before it’s too late. Excessive panting, heavy drooling, weakness, vomiting, stumbling, or collapse are all signs that your pet needs immediate veterinary attention.

All pets can suffer from heat stroke but some pets that are at higher risk for heat stroke are:
- Brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies
- Puppies and senior pets
- Overweight pets
- Pets with heart or respiratory disease

Here are some tips to help keep your pet safe this summer:
- Always provide access to fresh water and shade
- Check the pavement before walks, it should be comfortable enough to hold the back of your hand on for 7 seconds
- Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for just a few minutes

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke:
- Move them to a cool area (air conditioning or shade)
- Begin cooling your pet cool (not ice cold) water, never cover your pet with a wet towel as this traps the heat.
- Contact a veterinarian immediately and transport to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital.
- Even if your pet appears to recover they should still be examined; as heat stroke can cause serious damage to your pet’s internal organs.

Stay safe, cool, and never hesitate to reach out if you have concerns about your pet this summer!

🐾🌸🌼May is Allergy Awareness Month!🌼🌸🐾
Just like people, pets can struggle with seasonal allergies too; especially in the Central Valley.
Keep an eye out for signs like:
-Excessive scratching or licking
-Paw chewing
-Ear infections, smelly ears or head shaking
-Red or irritated skin
-Hair loss or hot spots

Allergies can make pets uncomfortable, and symptoms can worsen overtime if left untreated.
Our team at Alpine Mobile Veterinary Services can evaluate your pet from the comfort of your home and help create a treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs.
