Despite the tire troubles yesterday, the Sunflower Doe-Down Open show was a success for us.

Kansas Bluestem Katasterismoi,
Stella, was reserve under judge Russel Sorbo, despite not reaching her typical show full mammary capacity due to stress. This mammary photo really doesn't do her justice, but if she can look this good under stress, imagine what she looks like when she's having a good day!

We love this doe and are very excited to use her son (Kansas Bluestem PP Orion's Eye) this fall. We're finalizing breeding plans for the fall and will share them soon. Stella has a long waitlist for kids, but I bet we can find some Orion offspring to share. 😉

The dairy goat community truly is amazing. Fifteen minutes from our destination last night and both right side tires blew on our trailer. We had already used the spare because of a valve stem issue earlier in the trip.

One message to the show chairs and a crew of people were working to rescue us and the goats from the side of the interstate... and it was 11pm! (The day's schedule didn't go as planned; I definitely didn't want to still be on the road at that time.)

Thank you Shelby, Tara, Cody, and Skeeter for the rescue, and to Amy & TeCoa for coordinating and getting us off the side of the interstate quickly!

And I can't forget my amazing husband who contacted neighbors and friends to find wheels we could borrow for the weekend and then driving them up to us, and getting our wheels into a tire shop today so we can bring the trailer home tomorrow.

Definitely feeling loved and indebted to all of you!

Kansas Bluestem Kalua Pua'a is available to a new home this fall AFTER a successful collection and confirmation that he's bred the does we have him slated to breed. We expect this will be in late October, or the beginning of November. (Candid photo from August 2025. Updated photo will be added in June.)

"Pig" is a very easy to handle and gentle buck. He's always friendly, even in rut, and a really gentleman with the does. Despite his size, we don't mind pairing him with young does in their first breeding season. Pig's dam wasn't anything super special, but we took a chance on retaining him based on his pedigree. He has helped the general appearance of our kids immensely, and improved udder attachment in some lines. His kids are growthy and eye catching from day one.

If you are interested in purchasing Pig, please message us and we will work out terms.

**Under Deposit **
Kansas Bluestem MGF Inferno is available to a new home at the end of June 2026. This photo is from November 1025. A current one will be added in early June.

Inferno is a very easy to handle yearling buck. His dam, Camelot Cattle Co Cinder, scored an E mammary in linear appraisal as a third freshener. Unfortunately we lost Cinder not long after that, so didn't get to see the rest of her mature.

We wrapped up our Spring 2026 kidding season with a large single buckling from Over the Moon KUL Fancy Fern yesterday. He's a biggun at 8.8lbs, but Fern delivered easily and smoothly. He's headed to Wisdom Acres Farm in Arkansas, and if she gets some nice offspring from him, he might come back here in four or five years.

That brings our Spring 2026 kid count to 41 kids from 24 does. The split was 23 doe kids to 18 buck kids. We had a high number of singles this year, both from yearlings and from mature does, so you can see our average is less than two kids per doe.

Adding in the five does we freshened in the Fall of 2025, brings the total 25-26 kidding season to 28 doe kids and 25 buck kids, for a total of 53 kids from 29 does.

For the first time since we started this venture, we had more doe kids than buck kids... what a blessing!

We hope to freshen six does this fall (November) and expect to kid about 25/26 does from January to April next year. As we finalize breeding plans, keep your eye open for some of our mature bucks to be posted... one or two may be available in the summer but several will need to stay here until they've settled the does we have planned for them in the fall.

It was "personality test" day for the puppies. Link to youtube video of the tests in the comments. Those with reservations will be contacted when it's their turn to pick a puppy.

All puppies have pending homes. Feel free to contact us if you'd like added to the list for next year's litter. We only have one litter a year. If you aren't interested in waiting a year for a dog, please do not ask to join the list.

What a grand day in Stillwater!

Kansas Bluestem Katasterismoi (Stella) went grand under Dr. Paula Reisdorff, DVM (and was BOB by default because the Challenger scratched), and reserve under Timothy Flickinger.

The rest of the string had decent placings but no ribbons. Thank you Christy and Amanda (Heart of Oklahoma Show) for a well-run, superbly organized show, yet again. We'll be back next year (and we're looking forward to the new show in Perry in October)!

They've reached the age where we can convince some of them to go on a daily property walk. Yesterday it was Black and Bright Pink (first photo) who made it all the way around our wooded loop, further from the barn than any of them had ever been. Those who are less people focused and/or more of a close guard type will be more reluctant to leave the barn and herd. This helps us identify some traits and place puppies in the homes best suited to their personalities.

They're also starting to spend more time with the mature does, and some are beginning to truly take an interest in them. Light Pink is pictured checking in on one of the yearlings- just a sweet and gentle appraise and sniff.

They're also becoming very mischievous and playful. Nothing is safe. We're beginning to find their "treasure collections" in places around the barn (odd bits of trash, sticks, old bones, etc) and love a good wrestle time in the freshly removed deep litter from the barn or the mud puddle from emptying a stock tank.

Creamy is very people timid and will only approach you, not the other way around. Light pink is bold on approach but very sensitive to reprimands and will do best in a positive reinforcement training environment. Red is fearless and friendly and nothing seems to startle her, at this point. The two purples are becoming very social, but dark purple looks to be more stock oriented and light purple seems to be more inquisitive. We're still leaning towards retaining bright pink, or dark purple.

Black is a social butterfly and well rounded- he likes to explore but also gets into very little mischief. Blue is showing a preference for the ducks over the goats, which is a first for our litters.
