Color Country Animal Welfare CCAW provides the only Trap Neuter Release service for the entire population of Wayne County, which covers 2,500 square miles.

We are a community-centered animal shelter, providing animal services including supported self-rehoming, adoptions, lost pet reunification, low-cost veterinary care, pet food pantry, animal care resources and more! We are also the only resource agency that provides temporary shelter for stray animals and supports an adoption service and network for abandoned, abused or unwanted pets.

Looking for a senior dog?

Sometimes, the best companions are the ones who have a little more life experience and a whole lot of love to give. We have two wonderful senior dogs looking for their forever homes!

Meet Lucy, an incredibly gentle and loving black Lab who would make a sweet companion for someone looking for a loyal friend. She's got so much love to give and deserves a family who will cherish her.

Then there's Wolfgang, our Shepherd/Malinois mix! He may be 10 years old, but don't let that fool you. He still loves going for walks, playing, and enjoying life's little adventures.

Senior dogs have so much love left to give, and they deserve to spend their golden years surrounded by comfort, security, and people who adore them.

121 days. That's how long Angie has been waiting for a place to call home.

Angie is currently our longest resident cat, and it's hard to believe this sweet girl has spent so much of her life waiting for someone to choose her. She is extremely affectionate, gentle, and social, and she loves being around people. She's the kind of cat who would make a wonderful companion, whether you're looking for a little extra company or a sweet friend to share your days with.

It's always hard watching such loving animals wait in the shelter, especially when they have so much love to give. Angie deserves more than a kennel and a waiting game. She deserves a cozy spot on the couch, a family to greet her every day, and a home where she can finally settle in and feel safe.

Meet some of our newest faces at Color Country Animal Welfare: Orangey, Lucy, and Zion!

Orangey is full of fun, love, and personality! This sweet pup is ready to bring plenty of joy and excitement to a lucky family's life.

Lucy is a gentle, sweet senior black Lab with so much love to give. Senior dogs have a special kind of magic, and we hope this lovely girl finds a soft place to land and a family to cherish her.

And then there's Zion, our adorable puppy! He's just getting started on life's adventures and deserves a loving home where he can grow, learn, and thrive.

We made our $15,000 matching grant goal!!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, attended, volunteered, and helped make our fall fundraiser a success! We are so grateful for our incredible community, generous donors, hardworking staff, and amazing volunteers who showed up for the animals.

A special thank you to Don Gomes and Annie Holt with The Old House on Center and Main for sponsoring our matching grant and generously providing their space for our silent auction, Strut Your Mutt fashion show, and mocktail bar. Your generosity means so much to us!

These adorable kittens are growing up right before our eyes, and we think it’s about time they found their forever homes!

They’ve spent their days growing, playing, exploring, and perfecting their kitten antics, but there’s one thing they’re still waiting for: a family of their very own. These little cuties deserve homes where they can continue to grow, feel safe, and be loved for the rest of their lives.

Kittens don’t stay tiny forever, and we would love to see these babies find their people before they grow up in the shelter. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for making our Fall Fundraiser and silent auction such a success!

We are so grateful to everyone who donated to our matching fundraiser, contributed items to our silent auction, placed bids, and helped raise funds to support the animals in our care. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of the pets who depend on us. Thank you Don Gomes and Annie Holt for the $15,000 matching grant!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped plan, organize, and set up the fundraiser, our dedicated volunteers, and our hardworking staff who put so much time and effort into making everything come together. Thank you to everyone who showed up, participated, spread the word, and supported us along the way. Events like this take a village, and we are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community standing behind us.

And, of course, we have to give a special shout-out to our adoptable superstars, Wallabe, Lena, Coral, and Zion! These amazing animals were the stars of the show, stealing hearts and reminding us all why we do what we do. They deserve just as much recognition for being such wonderful ambassadors for shelter pets!

Every donation, every bid, every helping hand, and every act of kindness helps us continue our mission of finding loving homes for homeless animals and providing support to pets and families in our community.
