Sharing some video of Julia. She's doing awesome. Her energy is way up over the past few weeks. She traveled 12,256 miles in July and we went home for 5 nights, it could have been a record month if we stayed out. Julia caught sight of a Greater Roadrunner in South Texas and she was on high alert I Love watching her when she spots things from her perch on the dash.

Update 07/15/23:

Julia and I are in Fairview, TN today. We have had a super busy couple of weeks from Ohio to California and just about everywhere in between.

Julia removed her own feeding tube a week ago. I was definitely not ready but had an idea it was coming. She started working on it hard core as soon as she was feeling better. She is eating plenty and doing very well. She looks so pathetic still with two shaved legs and a shaved neck but it will all grow back. She seems to have gained quite a bit of grey fur especially around her face and head but also down the center of her back. She was really very sick by the time she was found. She seems happy and is super loving. Interestingly enough, she no longer sleeps on top of me. Prior to her being lost I slept like a pretzel and refused to turn or move at all so I wouldn't "disturb the cat" and now I miss it.

This tragedy was incredibly expensive. All told it was just over 7,000.00. When I was at the vet hospital in Toledo, OH and they said 3,550.00 just five days after 1,850.00 in Ontario, CA... I did not know how I was ever going to pay for this. A wonderful woman who saw Julia's story on Nextdoor reached out and donated $2,500.00. It was an absolute miracle. Seventy three other marvelous humans raised $2,968.00. I can't Thank all of you enough. I believed I would find Julia and she and I would just go on trucking. I never imagined I would find her and she would be so devastatingly ill. It was so hard to do all of this on the road. In many parts of the country Uber has dried up and is almost non existent. Even being able to get to veterinary offices where I could park was mind boggling. The night I broke down with her on the feeding tube I crawled into the tow truck drivers rig carrying a back pack, Julia in her collar and tube and a blender. None of this process has been easy... but it has been so worth it.

I am so Thankful and Happy to have my best girl back with me, healthy and in her spot tonight. She's doing a fine job of watching the truck stop which entertains me endlessly as I narrate it all in her voice inside my head.

Thank you to everyone who donated to her and I, but also to everyone who shared their ideas, thoughts, and words of support during the awful 51 days she was missing and these 38 days since she's been found. I'll never forget the way your community came together for she and I.

So Julia and I were at the Out West Animal Hospital in Conway AR yesterday just as a follow-up. Her blood work is awesome and even though the tube has slipped slightly, it is still seated in the stomach. Her liver enzyme levels and total bilirubin levels are much much lower. They said keep up the good work! We will know its time to remove the feeding tube when she is eating enough to sustain herself for a few days. A very good visit all around. Thank You All for being such a big part of getting us to this point! We have been very busy but will begin posting her travels as her health crisis winds down..

Update Julia 06/16/23:

What a difference 48 hours can make. PLEASE READ FOR ALL OF JULIA'S UPDATES. Also, please follow her page if you would like to see her travels. Once she is better I really can't post on lost and found pages. Those pages have work to do that Julia takes away from. However, she's newly found and still quite ill. So for now we are still updating here.

I have decided that we can't go home, Julia's expenses are too large. We have received so much support including an angel who came to our rescue while we were in Toledo. Julia is still a very sick kitty, 51 days of starvation took its toll.
I knew how scared she was, she was so afraid she hid and lost over 50% of her body weight. However, 48 hours on the feeding tube and with a blood transfusion has done her wonders. Although I didn't want it for her, it's amazing. She lays still and seems to enjoy the warm food infusions, it has also taken all of the stress out of her many medications. In addition, I have peace of mind knowing she has received all the nutrition she needs to recover and take her place on the dashboard!

UPDATE ON MS. JULIA. SHE IS IN THE HOSPITAL BUT DOING WELL. 51 DAYS TOOK ITS TOLL BUT SHE WILL RECOVER.

Starting Sunday evening Julia decided she didn't want food. I was aware this might happen and started her on an appetite stimulant the veterinarian in California prescribed in case this happened. I also switched to a "tastier" food we had with us, but both of these actions were met with little success.

Today I began calling vets in the area of Findlay, OH and because I already was aware she needed an esophageal feeding tube they all referred me to VetMed in Toledo, OH.

I took Julia there and we repeated the blood work only. Just to see where the levels are. Julia's liver enzymes have come down but only by a few points. No where near normal. Also, Julia's red blood count was dangerously low. It had been on the very low end of acceptable in California and the Veterinarian here feels that because she is now rehydrated the amount is just too low. So Julia needed to be admitted for tonight for a transfusion and the placement of the esophageal tube.

The estimate for this care was staggering. It is $3,200.00 to 3,800.00. I am not an unrealistic person, and if I were hearing different things from the Veterinarians regarding Julia's prognosis or quality of life, I would make a decision to euthanize no matter how much I may grieve. However, both of these Veterinarians are fairly optimistic. Yes, Julia is quite sick, yet she is only four years old and the treatment we are providing has provable results and should work well. Julia once recovered should have a quite normal, long life.
