⚠️ Hidden Equipment Failures Can Crash a Reef Tank

This is the magnet from a gyre pump we found during routine pump maintenance.

On the outside, the pump was still operating. Once disassembled, however, the magnet had completely failed. The protective coating had been breached, allowing saltwater to reach the metal core, resulting in extensive rust and corrosion.

This type of failure can:
• Introduce rust and contaminants into your aquarium
• Reduce water flow and circulation
• Stress sensitive fish and corals
• Lead to complete pump failure

This is one of the biggest reasons preventative maintenance is so valuable. We don’t just clean aquariums, we fully inspect the equipment that keeps your system running. Catching hidden failures like this before they become catastrophic can save your livestock and prevent costly repairs.

When was the last time your pumps were completely disassembled and inspected?
