I’ve had several clients ask me lately, “Where can I take my dog to work on socialization when it’s too hot, cold, rainy, or just plain nasty outside?” 🌧️☀️

And remember, socialization doesn’t always mean meeting every dog or person you see! It can simply mean teaching your dog how to calmly exist around new people, sounds, smells, environments, carts, doors, distractions, and other everyday experiences. 🐾

A trip to a dog-friendly store can be a GREAT training opportunity—especially when the weather doesn’t cooperate!

BDC Dog of Year and Puppy of year Race is coming through Shankland Ranch! Flushers thank you for the staunch and passionate signups! We are looking pretty stout on Flushing side! Im extremely grateful for the strong support! Open Pointing is gonna be a great time too! Thank you to those that staying the week between events as well. Puppy Flushing holy smokes we got a ton of new puppies this year on Flushing side making their debut this fall. Thats awesome to see! Thank you- Cody Shankland!

🥁 Drum roll, please... 🥁

We're finally getting our group classes going again! It's been a little while, but we're excited to get back at it and can't wait to see everyone out training together.

This Friday, we'll be welcoming Bear and Lexi to the Journey Bound K9 family, and we'd love your help providing real-world distractions while we work with them!

📍 Friday at 6:00 PM Lake Shawnee – Ted Ensley Gardens We'll meet under the gazebo.

💲 Cost: $10 per dog

I'll be there to coach you and your furry friends through practical training exercises, helping you build better communication and confidence in real-world environments.
If you have an elevated dog bed (place cot), please bring it if you can.

A dog can have perfect obedience inside the comfort of their own home… but what happens when the bubble pops?

Training in the house is an important foundation, but dogs don’t automatically understand that the same rules apply everywhere. True training is being able to take those skills out into the real world.

Can your dog listen inside a busy store?
Can they walk calmly around distractions?
Can they work around other dogs?
Can they focus when things aren’t perfectly controlled?

Dogs learn through repetition, consistency, and being taught how to generalize behaviors in different environments.

The goal isn’t just a dog who listens in the living room — it’s building a relationship and communication that carries over wherever life takes you.

Huge thank you to Ravenwood Lodge for hosting such a great morning with the Ronald McDonald Sporting Clays fundraiser!

It was an absolute blast spending time with good friends, doing what we love, all while supporting an amazing cause. Grateful to be part of a community that comes together to make a difference!
