Libertas Equine Services

Libertas Equine Services horse training from starting to problem horses and finishing in English and western disciplines. We also offer riding lessons both English and western.

I specialize working with problem horses, starting horses, finishing them in western speed events, trail, low level dressage, 'bomb-proofing' horses, and western pleasure. I have 13 years of experience with horses; seven as a professional trainer. I believe each horse is different and as such there is no one correct 'method' that works for every single horse. However, most of my training is what is

considered today 'natural horsemanship' style.I believe respect in the saddle starts on the ground. I also offer horse back riding lessons. Both in English and Western styles of riding. I offer from beginner to intermediate and from 3 years old up. I train out of my husband's and my 20 ranch in Oskaloosa KS. Refrences available upon request. Prices:
Riding Lessons- $30 an hour
30 Day Training- $450 a month if you provide feed/hay
$550 a month if i provide feed/hay
To train out of your barn I charge $25 an hour plus mileage fee from my place. Call/Text Caity @ 913-302-1157

For Sale: Red is an 8 year old, 15hh quarter horse mare. She is your ultimate all around high school/college rodeo horse or EXCA prospect. Quiet, sound and sane. Not spooky at all. She is super super quick, knows were her feet are. Crazy athletic. She can turn on a dime. Needs to be finished out in which direction you are wanting her to go. I’ve had beginners on her(no she is not a beginners horse, though a kid who knew what they were doing would do fine on her). Amazing ground manners. My son as a 3 year old could handle her fine. I rode her daily last year and she got pretty solid. Car accident in January took my leg so she has mostly just been sitting since then. She just got back from a month working in Nebraska. When I was riding her she had a great walk, trot, canter. She’d lope circles, pick up her leads, and do flying lead changes naturally. And she is soft and light enough she’d do it all in a halter and lead if you want. She also has springs in her back legs and will jump anything you put in front of her. I absolutely love this mare. Just don’t have the ability to be on as many as I’d like right now and I want to see her used. She is not registered at this point but I have everything you need to do it if you’d like. I’d take her out about anywhere as she is now. Quiet on the trails. Asking $2000 OBO. Would like to sell ASAP. Would also consider trade for round bales or an older tractor that runs.

For Sale: BB is a gorgeous 13 year old draft cross mare. She is a giant love bug and is the first one at the gate and wants all your love. She is broke to ride. Walk, trot, canter. Will pick up her leads. Will have to tape her for her exact height but stands around 16.1/16.2 and thick. She is smart and very very quiet. Does great on trails. She is not a beginners or kids horse. She is great but will get pushy if you let her get away with it. If you don’t let her though she is awesome. Could be a great trail horse or foxhunt prospect. Rides both English and western. Asking $2000 OBO. Would like to sell ASAP. Would also consider trade for round bales or an older tractor that runs.

Time for a little meet the trainer!

Ethan has grown up on the back of a horse. We actually started colts together growing up. (Notice the flashback first picture) He has truly grown up in the back of a horse. He started professionally training at age 16. Taking on colts and problem horses. He got to attend a Clinton Anderson 3 day course as tge only person to ever be allowed in under age 18 as a participant because of the amazing amoint of recommendations of his clients. He also studied Barefoot Trimming and has a current large client base with that. He graduated KState with a degree in Animal Science-Production Management. He has been involved with and trained for a very diverse base. Starting in 4h and ranging from mounted shooting, ranch rodeos, ranch work, team penning, to now having risen in the field of foxhunting to being a Whip for the Leavenworth Foxhunt Club. He naturally has a quiet understanding and way with horses and I'm excited to continue to expand our business now together.

Libertas Equine Services is excited to make some big announcements!!

First we would like to welcome a new trainer to our program, Ethan Johnson. Ethan has grown up on he back of a horse with his accomplishment ranging from Foxhunting to Ranch Rodeos. He will bean awesome asset to our program. He will be taking on colts as well as a few riding students.

Second! We have officially taken over Blackjack Creek Ranch just outside of Topeka and will be located there indefinitely. We are so excited about our new facilities. We now offer pasture boarding, dry lots and stall boarding. It is going to take a little time for us to get it up to our standards so please be patient with us thru these growing pains.

Third! With the new facility once we get it to our standards we will be starting to provide clinics as well as practice events out of it. We are super excited about the opportunities here so stay tuned for more information.

Lastly! Many of you know on January 10 2018 I was in a severe car accident that crushed most of my body and took my left foot. While I was on a horse about 3 months post accident, I am just finally, truly getting to the point I am moving around well and hopefully will be walking again within the next month. That being said for now I will be sticking with riding lessons/coaching and clinics. I will be on horses but for the next few months will not be actively taking on colts of my own.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience through this crazy year. I am so excited for the future and where Libertas Equine Services is going to go! So if you haven't already like and share the page!!! PM for any more questions or comments.

Alright so a lot of people have been asking what "Libertas" is for. Its latin for Liberty/Freedom. I picked this for 2 reasons. The first is when working with you and your horse I want it to be a partnership. Never something that is forced. I want your horse to choose to be a part of the team. Not through excessive force and tools but through solid horsemanship, leadership and communication. The second reason for choosing the name Libertas is because eventually as this program grows the ultimate goal is to morph part of it into a therapy program dealing with PTSD for our veterans and first responders. Giving them freedom from the PTSD they gained while giving us the freedoms we have every day. Again so excited to see this grow and hopefully help lots of horses and people!!

Hey everyone!! So lots of changes have happened in the past few years. First off! We have moved. We are now located at Blackjack Creek Ranch right outside of Topeka KS. Second! I am now Libertas Equine Services and will soon be seeking out an LLC and get this rolling towards an even bigger and better business. While we are based out of Topeka we still offer services all over within 2 hours of Topeka. We also can do riding lessons in Bonner Springs. We are also looking into the idea of starting doing clinics possibly. We are so excited for the fresh start of 2018. Happy New Year Everyone!!
