I was reading a post in another group by a kennel. People ask what's wrong with the last pup? Why is it last? The answer was simple. There is always a last pup. They also noticed that, and so have I, sometimes that pup is the smartest. With GSP it's usually about color. They want roan, or liver or black. Or male or female.
The last one this time went to a family that bought the last two from a Deke and Amara litter. I had said we have two and she took both.
Good breeding isn't necessarily about color, avoiding a fault, or any health issue by tracking your pups or heath testing. It's hunting instinct, how easy to train, how are they in the home?
Because you may be getting a dog, but ultimately you are getting a new family member. Over the years I have received a few calls where you could hear their voice crack as they tell of the loss of their 4 legged friend. It always touches my heart.
Well that's it for this litter, or is it. We kept a female. Autumn Prairies Little Ms Chill "Quigley"
We will be health testing her and training her over the next two years,and if all goes well she will be our last dam.
I haven't talked much about it but last year early October we lost Tango. And like those phone calls I mentioned I can't help but tear up writing this. He left a void. For weeks we just expected that happy face to greet us. So, hug those pups and dogs as in God's wisdom, we only get to have them for a few years.
And the rest of the wrecking crew? Raina is
still battling cancer and still with us.
Amara continues to be in charge.
Gidge is her usual goofy self.
Edi is on the hunt. And winter 2027 may be her
last litter
Cash is Mr Happy and always on the hunt.
Jo is pretty much back to pre breeding shape.
We will skip her next heat. So next breeding.
will be probably late August of 2027. Should
we breed with Zeke again? It's hard to quit with
a winning combo
And Quigley, well that story is yet to be written.
