A quick note about the (sometimes) harsh realities of our mission: unexpected expenses come up with each new foster.
In the recent months, we have had:
๐ One foster with a sensitive tummy and special diet requirements
๐ Multiple fosters that needed slow feeders
๐ Another needed immediate flea medication (picked up as a stray)
๐โ๐ฆบ One foster needs a long line because she can't be out in the yard alone yet and is a possible flight risk, but also won't potty if we're right next to her on a normal leash
โฝ Gas. Lots of gas. Vet appointments, meet ups for moving dogs around, picking up supplies, etc.
๐ Supplements (working with emaciated dogs... Enough said)
๐งผ High grade cleaning products (to keep everybody safe)
When you support our organization, these are the basic provisions that YOU are helping to provide for dogs in need. Maybe you can't foster or adopt right now (and that's TOTALLY OKAY!), but you CAN still make a difference. ๐ฉท
We are always in need of:
๐ฐCash donations
๐ฅฉFood donations
๐๏ธBlankets or gently used bedding
๐ถLarge or XL dog crates
โจ Volunteers to socialize with the scared ones, dog walking, help teach them house manners, etc.
Please remember - behind every success story, there's an angry neighbor because dogs have the audacity to bark & protect their fence line, a fresh f***l sample needing to be dropped off, another vet appointment or load of bedding to be washed, and one more week night "road trip" to help just one more dog.
Don't forget to thank your friends who have fostered, adopted, or volunteered their time. It's not always a cutesy photo opp and silly posts to improve our social media presence.
It's sleepless nights settling in a scared one, relentless grit and determination to gain trust and endless messes + chaos. It's asking ourselves again and again, "how could anybody let this happen?"
But EVERY difficult moment is worth it, and we'd do it over and over to save as many as we possibly can. Every hard moment fades away when we see these babies take a deep breath and REST for hours on end because they FINALLY feel safe. Because behind those hard exteriors and the shut down personalities, are dogs that love to be loved - and they just need a somebody to give them a little extra time, patience, and kindness.
And we have PLENTY of that to offer around here. ๐
