Some donations come with a check...
This one came with a story…. ❤️
A few days ago, we received a message from a family in Kansas. Their 88-year-old mother had reached a point in life where she could no longer drive. After years of independence, she made the difficult decision to give up her vehicle.
She could have traded it in.
She could have sold it.
She could have handed it to a dealership and never thought about it again.
Instead, she chose the puppies.
Her family drove this beautiful 2015 Dodge Journey with 31,000 miles on it all the way from Pittsburg, Kansas to Northwest Arkansas and donated it to Forgotten Paws.
Think about that for a moment.
A vehicle that carried a woman through years of life, memories, errands, family visits, and everyday moments is now beginning a completely new chapter.
This Journey will carry dogs to vet appointments.
It will transport puppies to adoption events.
It will pick up supplies.
It will answer emergency calls.
It will help us save lives.
What was once a vehicle for one family is now a vehicle for hundreds of homeless animals who haven’t met their families yet.
To the incredible donor and her family:
Thank you for trusting us with something so meaningful. We know this wasn’t just a car. We know it represented freedom, independence, and a lifetime of memories. The fact that you chose to turn it into a tool for saving animals is something we will never forget.
Every mile this vehicle drives will be a reminder of your generosity.
And if anyone needs us today, you’ll have to wait until Heather and I stop ugly crying out of gratefulness.
Seriously.
We spend so much time worrying about vet bills, rent, emergency intakes, and how we’re going to say yes to the next animal that sometimes we forget just how incredible people can be.
Then someone we’ve never met decides that instead of selling a vehicle, they’d rather help save dogs.
There are not enough words.
Just gratitude.
From all of us at Forgotten Paws and from every dog whose life will be changed because of this gift..
Thank you from everybody at Forgotten Paws we are ever so grateful, and from the dogs that will never fully understand how amazing this truly is but will benefit from it for years.
