☀️🐾 HOT ASPHALT CAN BURN PAWS! 🐾☀️

As temperatures rise, so does the temperature of the pavement beneath your dog’s feet. What may feel like a warm summer day to us can quickly become dangerous for our furry friends.

Did you know?
🌡️ Air Temperature 77°F = Asphalt Temperature 125°F
🌡️ Air Temperature 86°F = Asphalt Temperature 135°F
🌡️ Air Temperature 87°F = Asphalt Temperature 143°F

At 125°F, skin damage can occur in as little as 60 seconds!

Before taking your dog for a walk, always do the 7-second test:
✋ Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Signs of burned paw pads may include:
🐾 Limping
🐾 Excessive licking of the feet
🐾 Darkened or missing paw pad tissue
🐾 Blisters or redness

Whenever possible, walk your dog during the cooler morning or evening hours, stick to grassy areas, and make sure they have plenty of water.

Remember: If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for theirs! ❤️🐶

🐾 “How much will my Goldendoodle cost?” 🐾

This is one of the most common questions we get at Wizard Of Paws, and these four beautiful dogs are the perfect example of why it’s nearly impossible to give an accurate quote over the phone!

All four dogs pictured are Goldendoodles, but look at how different they are:

✨ Different sizes
✨ Different coat types and textures
✨ Different lengths of hair
✨ Different grooming styles requested
✨ Different amounts of brushing and maintenance done at home
✨ Different behavior and handling needs during the groom

A small Goldendoodle in a short teddy bear trim may require a completely different amount of time and work than a large Goldendoodle with a dense curly coat or a custom hand-scissored style. Even two dogs of the same breed can vary by hours in grooming time!

When we provide estimates over the phone, they are exactly that—estimates. Final pricing is based on factors such as:
🐾 Size and weight
🐾 Coat condition and matting
🐾 Length and thickness of coat
🐾 Grooming style requested
🐾 Behavior and cooperation during the appointment
🐾 Time required to safely complete the groom

Toy Poodles are known for their intelligence, athleticism, and gorgeous curly coats—but those coats require regular grooming to stay healthy, comfortable, and mat-free. At Dawson’s age, establishing a consistent grooming routine is so important to help them learn that grooming is a positive experience and to keep their coat in top condition.

🐾 Welcome to Wizard Of Paws, Briggs! 🐾

We had the pleasure of meeting this handsome little guy, Briggs, a 3-month-old Vizsla puppy, for his very first grooming appointment! ❤️

First puppy visits are all about creating positive experiences, building confidence, and helping our young clients learn that grooming can be fun and stress-free. Briggs did a fantastic job exploring new sights, sounds, smells, and handling during his spa day. We can’t wait to watch him grow up and become a grooming superstar! ✨

Did you know these fun facts about the Vizsla breed?

🐕 They are known as “Velcro Dogs.”
Vizslas are incredibly affectionate and love being close to their people. If you own a Vizsla, personal space is often a thing of the past!

🏃 They were bred to be athletes.
Originally developed in Hungary as hunting dogs, Vizslas have amazing stamina and excel in activities like hiking, running, agility, dock diving, and field work.

🧠 They’re highly intelligent.
Vizslas learn quickly and thrive when given training, mental stimulation, and jobs to do.

❤️ They’re sensitive souls.
This breed responds best to positive reinforcement and forms very strong bonds with their families.

🌟 Their beautiful rust-colored coat is unique.

🐾 “Why does my dog’s haircut cost more than mine?” 🐾

It’s a question groomers hear all the time, and the answer may surprise you!

When you visit your hairstylist, you sit still (mostly 😉), tell them what you want, and don’t try to bite them, jump off the table, or roll in something stinky beforehand.

Dog grooming is much more than a haircut. Every appointment includes handling a living, moving animal with its own personality, fears, anxieties, and sometimes a little attitude. Groomers must safely bathe, dry, brush, de-mat, trim nails, clean ears, and style each pet while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.

Many dogs require special handling, frequent breaks, and extra patience. Some are puppies experiencing grooming for the first time, while others are seniors who need gentle accommodations. Every groom is customized to the individual dog’s needs.

🐾 Why We Do Not Allow Owners to Stay During Grooming 🐾

At Wizard Of Paws, we know your pets are family, and we completely understand wanting to stay close by and watch the grooming process. ❤️

However, for the safety, behavior, and overall experience of the dogs, we do not allow owners to remain in the grooming area during appointments.

Here are a few reasons why:

🐾 Most dogs behave very differently when their owners are present. Many become overly excited, anxious, protective, distracted, or difficult to safely handle.

🐾 Grooming requires focus and concentration. We work with sharp tools, moving equipment, water, dryers, and living animals that can react suddenly or unpredictably.

🐾 Dogs often settle down much faster once separated from their owners. In many cases, staying actually increases stress levels rather than reducing them.

🐾 Safety always comes first. Even the sweetest dog can jerk unexpectedly, bite out of fear, or move suddenly during grooming, which can create dangerous situations.

🐾 Our grooming area is designed as a calm working environment for both pets and groomers. Extra activity and distractions can interfere with that environment.

Please know that our goal is never to exclude owners — it is simply to provide the safest, calmest, and most effective grooming experience possible for your pets.

We deeply value communication and transparency. If you ever have comments, questions, concerns, or would like to discuss your dog’s grooming experience, we encourage you to contact us directly. We are always happy to listen and help however we can. ❤️🐶

🐾 Friendly Salon Reminder 🐾

At Wizard Of Paws, we work with living, moving, excited, nervous, wiggly, and sometimes unpredictable pets all day long. Because of this, collars, tags, leashes, harnesses, flea & tick collars, bows, bandanas, p**p bag holders, and other personal pet items can occasionally become damaged, misplaced, chewed, tangled, or accidentally discarded during the grooming process.

While we do our absolute best to keep track of every item that comes through our doors, we cannot be responsible for personal pet belongings left in the salon.

For this reason, we recommend:
🐾 Removing sentimental or expensive collars before appointments
🐾 Leaving unnecessary accessories at home
🐾 Double-checking belongings at pickup

Our focus will always be the safety, comfort, and care of your pets first and foremost. ❤️

🐾 Flea Policy Reminder 🐾

At Wizard Of Paws, we have a strict flea policy in place to protect all of our clients, their pets, and our salon environment.

If we see live fleas on a dog during their appointment, the dog WILL receive a flea treatment bath — no exceptions.

This policy is not meant to embarrass or upset anyone. Fleas can happen to anyone, even well-loved pets. However, fleas spread extremely quickly in grooming environments, and it is our responsibility to prevent infestation and protect every dog that comes through our doors.

A flea infestation can:🐾 Spread to other pets in the salon🐾 Cause skin irritation and discomfort🐾 Create sanitation issues in the grooming environment🐾 Be brought home to other clients and staff

For the health and safety of all pets, immediate treatment is necessary if fleas are found.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy. Our goal is always to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment while giving every dog the best care possible. ❤️
