We offer a Virtual Training & Behavior Consulting Program

Professional Coaching. Real Results. No In-Person Sessions Required.

We are incredibly proud to have the relationship we do with our Northtowns veterinary team VCA Sheridan Animal Hospital for many of our behavior modification cases.

Behavior is never just “training.” In many situations, truly helping a dog requires a team approach — and having a veterinary clinic that understands behavior, stress, anxiety, medical influence, and compassionate patient care makes a huge difference in the outcome for both pets and their owners.

We frequently work together to help create the best possible plan for each individual dog, whether that means behavioral support, medical evaluation, pain management considerations, anxiety management, or helping owners better understand what their dog is experiencing.

This clinic continuously goes above and beyond not only for owned pets, but also for local rescue dogs, municipal cases, and animals that need extra patience and understanding. We are extremely grateful to have professionals in our community who genuinely care about improving the lives of animals.

Please take a moment to support them in the 2026 Veterinary Appreciation Day awards. Voting is open through 5/26 and you can vote once daily! ❤️

It’s important to have everyone in the house , even the other animals involved in each lesson.

Bo ( on leash) is working hard at making good choices with impulse control and reactivity , while his brother Tiggy ( Bo’s smiling supporter) is all about fun 🖤

In home training is so important, because these dogs are involved in our everyday life and it’s not always beneficial to send them away for training. We get to work through real life, distractions, and structure within the home.

Okay… we have to talk about this…..

Appeasement licking

It’s really one of the most misunderstood dog behaviors.

Not every lick is a “kiss.”
Sometimes, licking is a dog communicating stress, discomfort, conflict, fear, uncertainty, or an attempt to diffuse pressure in a situation.

Dogs use appeasement behaviors to try and avoid conflict. These signals can include:
• Lip licking
• Yawning
• Looking away
• Lowering the body
• Slow movements
• “Submissive” licking of hands, faces, or arms

❓ So you ask, what’s the problem? Well …. Humans often ignore or misread these signs.

A dog that is repeatedly licking someone while pinned down, hugged tightly, cornered, restrained, stared at, or overwhelmed may not be “loving it.” The dog may actually be asking for space.

When these subtle warning signs are ignored, escalation can happen.
Appeasement behaviors can progress into:
• Freezing
• Growling
• Snarling
• Air snapping
• Biting
• Wide or Whale Eyes

This is why understanding basic animal behavior is EXTREMELY important — especially around children 👏

❌ ❌
Not every wagging tail means happy.
Not every lick means affection.
And not every dog tolerating something is comfortable with it.

Learn to respect the whispers before the dog feels forced to scream.

Advocating for dogs means understanding their language, not humanizing it.
