Big East Akita Rescue Dedicated to the rescuing & rehoming of adoptable Akitas Big East Akita Rescue, Inc. We look for permanent loving homes for our dogs.

(BEAR) is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to giving a second chance to Akitas in the North East who have been abandoned, turned into animal shelters, or are no longer wanted by their families. We are dedicated to saving the Akita, a breed of dog endowed with loyalty, devotion, intelligence and honor. We will work with families to help keep their Akita in their home, providing resources and one on one support. We are committed to helping as many dogs as we financially can. We will work to educate potential owners and the public about the Akita breed with a goal of reducing the number of abandoned, abused, neglected, or unwanted Akitas.
