Measles Prevention: Important Information for Early Childhood Education Centers

Measles is a highly contagious virus that can spread quickly in childcare and early education settings.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided a checklist to help early care and education centers prepare for and respond to possible measles cases.

The guidance includes recognizing symptoms, reviewing vaccination requirements, establishing isolation procedures, and coordinating with local health departments to protect children, families, and staff.

Early preparation and awareness are important steps in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

Holiday Toy Program – Registration Closes October 23!

Lunch Break's Holiday Toy Program is accepting registrations through Friday, October 23, 2026.

The program provides toys for children from newborn through age 9 and gift cards for children ages 10–17.

Registration is online and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Proof of identification, proof of address, and a birth certificate or school enrollment letter for each child are required.

Toy distribution is scheduled for December 12.

Programa de Juguetes Navideños – ¡Inscripciones hasta el 23 de octubre!

Lunch Break está aceptando inscripciones para su Programa de Juguetes Navideños hasta el viernes 23 de octubre de 2026.

El programa ofrece juguetes para niños desde recién nacidos hasta los 9 años y tarjetas de regalo para niños de 10 a 17 años.

La inscripción es en línea y se atenderá por orden de llegada. Se requiere identificación, comprobante de domicilio y acta de nacimiento o certificado de matrícula escolar de cada niño.

La distribución de juguetes será el 12 de diciembre.

Feed the Need is providing pantry services for Ocean County residents ages 18 and older.

Residents can call to schedule a pantry pickup. Individuals actively enrolled in an MHAOC program may also qualify for home delivery services.

The Silent Witness Project will be presented Tuesday, October 27, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Georgian Court University’s Chapel Building, 900 Lakewood Avenue in Lakewood.

The community-based exhibit honors those who lost their lives to domestic violence, raises awareness and connects individuals with information and local resources.

Light refreshments will be offered.
