Welcome Gibson š¾
Meet Gibson, a 3-year-old Belgian Tervuren joining me for a 5-week Board & Train!
Gibson is a really fun dog who already comes in with a strong obedience background and even participates in Rally and showing. So for him, this program isnāt about teaching a long list of new commands.
Itās about building the dog underneath the obedience.
Our biggest goals are working on:
ā¢ Stronger engagement and focus around distractions
ā¢ Clearer leash communication
ā¢ Impulse control and duration
ā¢ Learning how to calmly coexist without always needing direction
ā¢ Building confidence and independent problem-solving
ā¢ Improving his ability to observe the environment without becoming consumed by it
ā¢ Creating a stronger āon/off switchā between working, playing, and settling
One of the biggest things Iām noticing with Gibson is that heās very accustomed to being given something to do. Right now, Iām intentionally giving him more opportunities to think, make choices, and find stillness without being micromanaged through commands.
Weāve been using food, tug, brain games, leash work, and even things he naturally finds valuable in the environment to build voluntary engagement and relationship.
He already knows how to do a lot.
Now weāre working on helping him become calmer, steadier, and more confident while doing it.
