Happy First Day of Vet Tech Appreciation Week! To kick off this week, we have Kassidy! Kassidy has been part of our team for over 2 years, beginning her journey with us in our kennel department. Since then, she has continued to grow and become such a valued member of our team! When she’s not at the hospital, Kassidy enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her friends, family, and her beloved dog, Buddy Boy. Kassidy is always eager to learn new things and is never hesitant to lend a helping hand. Thank you, Kassidy, for your consistent hard work, dedication, and everything you do for our patients and our hospital! We appreciate you!

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Sonar, one of our (DOG)TORS, decided that he wanted to take a look at a cytology today. Cytology is the microscopic examination of cells that have been collected from the body. Cytology is often used to diagnose growths or masses (tumors) found on the body’s surface, but can also assess bodily fluids, internal organs (liver, lung, lymph nodes, kidney), and abnormal fluids, especially in the chest and abdomen.
Disclaimer: Sonar IS a dog and cannot diagnose nor does he have a degree in veterinary medicine.

Happy Friday from Gunner! Gunner came in for us to perform pre-operative exam and blood work to make sure he's nice and healthy for his dental cleaning.
How common is dental disease in dogs? Dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions seen by veterinarians. Over 80% of dogs over the age of three have active dental disease.
Few dogs show obvious signs of dental disease, so it is up to the dog’s family and veterinarian to uncover this hidden and often painful condition. If your dog shows signs, they may include pawing at the mouth, head shaking, or jaw chattering. They may chew with obvious discomfort, drop food from their mouth, swallow with difficulty, or drool excessively. The saliva may contain blood. Halitosis (bad breath) is also common. We are now accepting new patients if you would like to schedule a dental exam!
