Training isn't only what I do for a living, it's my passion. If I'm not working with a client's dog, you will find me working and training my own dogs. Dogs are an extension of me and I treat every dog I put my hands on as if it were my own. My goal is to provide every dog owner the knowledge I have of how to form a strong bond that sets the foundation for all future training or behavior modification, become the leader every dog needs and how to properly communicate our expections we have of our dogs to them.

You heard that right—teach your dog to do nothing! 🐾

No chasing, no jumping, no pacing, no constantly searching for the next thing to react to. Just learning how to settle and watch the world go by.

Dogs naturally want to move, explore, and engage with their surroundings. Movement can also become an outlet for nervousness, frustration, or overstimulation.

Sometimes, that dog who seems to need endless activity actually needs help learning how to slow down.

Relaxation is a skill, and it deserves to be taught.
Teaching a dog to do nothing means helping them become comfortable with stillness. Giving them time to process their surroundings, disengage from distractions, and discover that every sound, person, or dog doesn’t require a response.

From there, we reward the frame of mind: the softer body, the relaxed breathing, the ability to settle without constantly anticipating what comes next.

Obedience gives us a structure to build on. A sit, down, or place command is a means to an end—the bigger goal is a dog who feels comfortable and can relax.

Exercise matters. Mental stimulation matters. Learning when to switch off matters, too and is the biggest mental stimulation most times!

Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can teach your dog is that it’s okay to simply be. 👌

📣 A reminder about crate training and our crate training fee

I’ve been lenient about charging crate training fees because I understand that accidents happen. A new environment, a change in routine, or an upset stomach can affect any dog. An occasional accident is understandable.

However, repeated crate soiling despite frequent potty breaks requires additional care and work. Dogs here go outside roughly a dozen times throughout the day, with their last outing between 11:30 p.m. and midnight and their first outing by 5:30 a.m.

When you tell me your dog is crate trained, I expect them to be able to settle quietly, behave appropriately, and generally keep their crate clean. Being familiar with a crate isn’t the same as being comfortable and reliable in one.

Excessive accidents mean time spent bathing dogs, cleaning and sanitizing crates, washing bedding, and using additional paper towels and cleaning supplies. That takes time away from training and adds real expenses.

Moving forward, the crate training fee outlined in your agreement will be enforced when additional crate training and repeated cleanup are necessary. An accident or two is understandable; an ongoing pattern needs to be addressed.

Please help me keep this fee at its current rate. I don’t want to raise it, but I will if necessary to cover the additional time, care, and supplies involved.

Please be honest about your dog’s crate habits before arrival, including frequent accidents, difficulty settling, or any known health concerns. That information helps me prepare and give your dog the care and training they need.

Thank you for understanding and respecting the time and work that go into caring for and training your dogs.

Making training fun, especially for puppies, helps build their desire to engage and their joy in working with you! 🐾

At this age, every session is an opportunity to build a relationship. Through play, rewards, clear communication, and small successes, we can teach a puppy that paying attention and learning with us is something to look forward to.

Keep sessions short, celebrate their effort, and give them time to figure things out. They’re learning more than commands—they’re discovering how rewarding it can be to work together.

The enthusiasm we build today lays the foundation for the training ahead. Enjoy the process, be consistent, and let your puppy enjoy it, too! 💪

Apollo the Rottie out at Tractor Supply for some training today, but tomorrow is the big day—his send-home lesson! 🐾🏡

These outings are about taking what we’ve practiced and putting it to work in everyday situations. New smells, people moving around, and distractions give us opportunities to work on paying attention, following direction, and staying calm when there’s plenty going on around him.

With a big, powerful dog like Apollo, those everyday habits matter. Walking together, waiting patiently, and understanding what’s being asked all help make life more enjoyable on both ends of the leash.

Tomorrow, the focus shifts to teaching his family how to carry that work forward. The send-home lesson is such an important part of the process: practicing the handling, understanding the commands, knowing when to reward, and learning how to communicate clearly and consistently.

Going home is the next chapter of training. The little things his family practices each day will help those habits become part of his normal routine. It takes patience, repetition, and follow-through, but that daily effort is what builds lasting results.

Looking forward to getting this big guy back with his family and helping them take the next steps together! 💪🐶

Daisy’s taking her training out into the real world at Tractor Supply 🐾

From pulling like a bull to learning how to walk nicely while dragging her leash, she’s making steady progress. Now we’re working on keeping that same focus around the sights, sounds, and distractions of a busy store.

These outings are about more than obedience. They’re opportunities to practice patience, build confidence, and learn that she can stay calm and follow direction even when there’s plenty going on around her.

Consistency, repetition, and clear communication—one outing at a time. Keep it up, Daisy! 👏

The little things are becoming big breakthroughs for Moon. 🌙🐾

When communicating with a deaf dog, the small nuances are everything—timing, body language, and consistency all matter.

You can see things starting to click as Moon learns that gentle leash pressure means “pay attention and follow my direction.” I’ve also started introducing hand signals, giving him clear visual cues to build on.

Every time he checks in, follows along, or responds to a signal, we’re building understanding and trust. My job is to communicate in a way he can understand, then give him the time and repetition to learn.

Still plenty of work ahead, but watching him begin to connect the dots is what makes this process so rewarding. 👊
