🐾 When Pug Met Sophie 🐾

Pug the pug comes to the clinic monthly for Librela, a targeted injection which provides long-term pain control for osteoarthritis. Last week, CPCC assistant Maddie’s pug, Sophie, said “I’ll have what he’s having!”

The meeting of the pugs was one for the books and both pups left with happy tails and relaxed joints.

As a veterinary team, we get to know some truly special patients. Right now, Chloe and her mom could use your help. The cost of diagnostics to determine why Chloe isn't feeling well is out of reach for our client. Sweet Chloe is beloved to her family and deserves the best chance at a healthy life. When you call a veterinary clinic for dental pricing, ask if the clinic includes dental x-rays. It may be less expensive if x-rays aren’t included in the short term, but things can be hidden that we can’t see without x-rays.

We had an 11 year old dog in for a dental. Oral exam of the mouth didn’t reveal much. But the radiographs we did (x-rays) tell a different story.

Below the gum line, where we can’t see with our eyes, the tooth had resorptive lesions (like cavities) and an abscess around one of the roots. We extracted the tooth and found a large pocket of pus around the root.

The only clinical sign this pet had was occasional chattering of the teeth. This highlights that we don’t know what is going on in a pet’s mouth without oral examination and radiographs. He’s feeling much better now!
