If youāve been a follower for awhile, you know I usually do in depth posts for things like this. But, itās different this year for some reason.
September is su***de prevention month. In 2016, my family got a call that we never expected. My friend Logan, had committed su***de. He was 16. I will forever remember driving to their house just a few hours after it happened and seeing his mother is such disarray. She was talking about it in details and was clearly in shock. The details were graphic. Seeing first hand how this impacts a family is devastating.
In 2013, I attempted to take my own life for the first time. I have never told anyone that, so you are all the first to know. I remember how heavy it was. Like 1000 tons on your chest and also, a moment of clarity. Of peace. Of acceptance. I wrote a note that thankfully my mother never had to read.
In 2014 I attempted again. At this time I was a sophomore in high school. We had 5 deaths in our school all a month apart from each other and it really took a toll on my mental health. I endured bullying for years. Constantly mocked for my body, my height & even my freckles (yes Iām fr). I had bullies in my family that felt impossible to escape.
In 2020, I attempted my life again. I had just gotten sick. My disabilities were present and I felt trapped in my body. I was going through the motions but I wasnāt living. This was the lowest point in my life. I had just gotten out of a toxic relationship but in 2021, everything changed.
Now itās 2026, Iām happy to say I havenāt attempted my life since 2020. For the longest time, it felt I had nothing to live for. I was stuck in environments that only caused me harm and trauma. I wouldnāt be where I am if I didnāt go through all of this.
If this helps just ONE person, then itās worth it. If you lost someone to su***de, tell me their name and a little bit about them in the comments. Keep their memories alive
If you attempted your own life, comment why youāre happy that you didnāt.
You deserve to be here š
