Sweet Oakley and little Samson stopped by to see us today! Oakley came in for some eye concerns while Samson provided moral support (and puppy cuteness, of course). 💙

Eye issues in pets should never be ignored. Redness, squinting, discharge, cloudiness, swelling, or keeping the eye closed can all be signs that something is wrong. Eye conditions can worsen very quickly and, in some cases, may lead to permanent vision damage if not treated promptly.

If you notice any changes in your pet’s eyes or vision, it’s important to have them examined as soon as possible. Early treatment can make all the difference in keeping your furry friend comfortable and protecting their eyesight. 🐶✨

Our hospital has recently seen an influx of kittens coming through our doors—and while they’re undeniably adorable, they often need extra care and attention to get off to a healthy start.

If you’ve found a kitten outside and are planning to keep them, here are a few important steps to take:

🍼 Estimate age & feeding needs
Very young kittens (under 4–5 weeks) require bottle feeding and round-the-clock care. Older kittens can transition to wet food.

🏥 Schedule a veterinary visit ASAP
A check-up helps determine age, overall health, and any urgent needs like deworming or treatment for fleas, parasites, or infections.

💉 Start vaccinations & preventive care
Kittens need a series of vaccines, along with flea/tick and heartworm prevention (yes—even indoor cats can be at risk!).

😺 Plan for spay/neuter
When the time is right, this helps prevent future litters and supports your kitten’s long-term health.

💛 Give them patience & love
Many outdoor kittens need time to adjust to indoor life. A calm, safe space goes a long way.

If you’re unsure what to do or need guidance, our team is always here to help. Together, we can give these little ones the best possible start. 🐾

It’s Veterinary Receptionist Week and we are thrilled to shoutout our rockstar receptionist, Kylie!

While most of you know Kylie as the friendly face who greets you and your pets in the lobby and the empathetic voice answering the phone, Kylie’s impact within our team extends far beyond your typical receptionist. Kylie brings 15 years of veterinary technician and receptionist experience to the table, and has experience in emergency care, surgery, equine, small animal, and everything in between. She is passionate about educating pet owners, which she does with unparalleled kindness and care for both the pets and their human companions.

Please join us in thanking Kylie for everything she does to support Singleton Avenue Animal Hospital and to ensure all the pets in our care receive the exceptional care they deserve.

Bella came in looking stylish for her visit—and yes, that bandana is absolutely stealing the show 🐾💙

She stopped by for her Rabies vaccine, which is not only essential for protecting her health, but also required by law. Rabies is a serious (and fatal) disease that can affect both pets and people, so keeping your pet up to date on this vaccine is one of the most important things you can do as a pet owner.

Bella handled her visit like a pro, and we think she deserves extra treats for both bravery and fashion sense! 🐶✨

Kane stopped by to see us, and just look at that sweet face! 🐾💙 This handsome puppy is not only adorable, but he’s also at the perfect age to start building a strong foundation for lifelong health.

One of the most important things we talk about during puppy visits is flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Even young puppies are at risk—especially here in Florida where parasites are active year-round. Fleas and ticks can cause skin irritation and transmit diseases, while heartworms (spread by mosquitoes) can lead to serious, even life-threatening heart and lung disease.

The good news? Prevention is simple, safe, and much more affordable than treating these conditions later on. Starting early helps keep puppies like Kane protected as they grow, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest. 🐶✨

Maggie stopped by for her puppy boosters and stole a few hearts while she was here 🐶💛

Puppy visits aren’t just about vaccines—they’re also the perfect time to check for intestinal parasites with a f***l exam. Many puppies can carry parasites without showing obvious signs, and early detection helps us treat them quickly and keep your pup healthy (and your household safe!).

Way to go, Maggie, for staying on track with your puppy care! 🐾✨

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! Our hospital will be undergoing significant renovations in the near future to repair damages sustained during the flooding of October 2025.

We will remain open during the renovations to service our community, but to allow the process to be efficient and completed within a timely manner we will have reduced hours/days of operations.

We will continue to see appointments and provide surgical intervention 4 days a week, which means we will not be seeing appointments on Tuesdays starting April 7th. With that in mind and keeping your beloved pets at our forefront, we will have one team member answering the phones on Tuesdays to answer any questions you may have, schedule appointments, and be available for medication refills/pickups.

We understand this can be an inconvenience, but we are hopeful our newly-renovated hospital will be a welcoming space for our wonderful clients and pets.

We look forward to keeping our promise of service to our community, pets, and families.

Bear stopped by for her annual visit and vaccines—and she absolutely nailed it with that smile! 🐾💉

Annual physical exams are one of the most important ways we keep pets like Bear happy and healthy. Even when everything seems normal at home, these visits allow us to catch early signs of illness, monitor changes over time, and keep vaccinations up to date. Early detection can make a big difference in treatment and long-term health!

Way to be a superstar, Bear! 💕

Just like people, pets can cough for many different reasons. An occasional cough may not be a big concern, but frequent, persistent, or worsening coughing can be a sign that something isn’t quite right.

Some common causes of coughing in pets include:
• Respiratory infections
• Allergies or irritation from dust, smoke, or pollen
• Heart disease
• Tracheal collapse
• Foreign material stuck in the airway

Coughing can sound different depending on the cause—it might be dry and hacking, goose-like, or even sound like your pet is trying to clear their throat.

Early evaluation can help us figure out the cause and get your pet feeling better sooner. If your pet has developed a cough, don’t hesitate to give us a call so we can help! 💙🐶🐱
