Ty and his mom have been working on improving their heel. We started with patterns and are now moving onto transitions into and out of movement. At the beginning of this exercise, Ty was getting distracted which caused him to lose his positioning when moving into the jog and when slowing to a stop. Instead of correcting this, we want to give him the opportunity to get a couple wins in so he really understands what is expected of him. So, we choose to keep moving until he catches up and do the transition once we have his attention again. Over time this will evolve, but for right now this is an easy exercise that helps your dog learn to stay in position, even with a change of pace.
