Do you look and feel best in black? Preferably, comfy black sweatpants?
Are you finding more white hairs in your dark, kind-of-unruly hair, and maybe even growing some whiskers on your chin?
If you could, would you live in a tower high above everyone else - like a queen in a castle?
Are you like, really pretty, but sometimes have an insane case of RBF?
Do you have so much potential, but just need someone who gets you?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may just be a Patricia.
Patricia's full bio is late. Very, inexcusably late. She's only been here since APRIL (we're firing our totally volunteer bio writer who is currently penning this). That's because to usually see Patricia is to stand under the entrance to the catwalk in her room, craning your neck upwards, getting a glimpse of black fur and begging, "Patricia, please come down. I just want to love you and snuggle you and feed you treats. Or just the treat part, up to you. I just need to get a better picture of you so you can get a home. Come on, you can't just live in the catwalk." Her response? "Watch me, human."
Sometimes, if you're not here every day, the only up-close interaction you might get with a cat is when they're in their initial intake cage as they await freedom in their new colony room. For most, this is right after they get fixed, but Patricia already came to us spayed, hence the ear tip. And even though she was a little bit of a crusty, runny-eyed mess when she first came, Patricia was sweet. Scared, but sweet. Liked to be pet, and leaned in for more. Probably wanted to be back home instead of in a cage at a new place, but was trying. She was likely depressed, and may still be, since she had to come to us after her beloved owner passed away. Her soulful eyes, pouty mouth and chubby cheeks are enough to melt you. And, she has these few longer white hairs protruding from her chin that in certain photos, almost look like tiny misplaced whiskers. She's a magical unicorn cupcake princess, but also a grumpy bridge troll.
Living in a catwalk is no life for a cat. Yes, she's fed, kept safe, offered all the toys and beds and things, and adored from afar. But Patricia deserves more. She deserves individual attention. A warm bed. A forgiving friend. Someone who gets her and won't expect more than she's willing to give. She just deserves a chance. She asks for almost nothing in return. Who knows, like so many cats, she may blossom in a home. She could be someone's once-in-a-lifetime cat who is currently just seen as the black ball of fur in the corner of the catwalk.
Patricia is about 4.5 years old. She's fine with other cats (and previously lived with Laverne, who is also still with us). Loud, hyper dogs or kids would probably scare her. A quiet, laid back home with cat people who identify with this write up is probably what's best for her. She's spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She's waiting for you, but neither of you might know it yet.
