Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico was granted Federal 501c3 status ( a non-profit charitable organization) in January, 2001. Donations of money and other items are tax deductible. We are fortunate to be included in the United Way campaign. We were also designated as a Great Non-Profit Organization for 2013 through 2020 by Greatnonprofits.org. We are also considered one of top five Best Places to Adopt

a Pet by the readers of Albuquerque The Magazine for 2014 and 2020. We can always use towels (both paper and cloth), blankets, pet bedding, collars, leashes, sweaters, bowls, cleaning supplies, wee pads, old ace bandages, and e-collars. We recycle your unwanted dog houses and fencing to folks who need them. Many of our animals come to us in need of various types of veterinary services. We always have a few geriatric pets who require heart, thyroid, and other medications. Donations to our medical funds would be very much appreciated. Donations can be sent to us at Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico, PO Box 1316, Tijeras, NM 87059 or on our website through JustGive or PayPal. Thank you for 25 wonderful years!
Dear Friends,

As we continue our work at Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico, I want to thank you for being part of our community. Every adoption, foster home, donation, volunteer hour, and shared social media post helps us provide a better future for animals in need.

Our mission remains simple: to rescue dogs and cats, provide the care they need, and help them find loving forever homes. Each day brings new challenges, but it also brings new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of animals who depend on us.

The work we do is only possible because of the support of people like you. Together, we are helping animals receive medical care, experience kindness, and find the families they deserve.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting our mission. We are grateful for your continued encouragement and partnership as we work to create more happy endings for New Mexico's homeless pets.

Sincerely,

Brian Spence

Meet Griffin! 🐾

Griffin is a 5-year-old, 7-pound little guy with a whole lot of love to give. He is the perfect size to tag along on life’s adventures and sweet enough to make every day brighter.

Griffin can be a little bashful at first, but once he feels comfortable, his loyal and loving personality comes through. He is already housebroken and crate trained, making him ready to slide right into a new family’s daily routine.

This well-behaved boy is also a leash-walking champ and will happily follow his person with devotion. If you are looking for a gentle, devoted companion who will bring smiles with his sweet nature and silly antics, Griffin may be your guy. His adoption fee is $225.00.

Meet Francis! 🐾

Francis is a 4-year-old, 20-pound French Bulldog with a sweet heart, a smart little mind, and a big love for people. This handsome boy came to Lap Dog Rescue from a small shelter in south Houston, Texas, and he has truly blossomed into a happy, energetic, loving companion. He was treated for heartworm and his cherry eye was fixed.

Francis is food motivated, loves being petted, and is especially fond of a good butt scratch. He is crate trained, house trained using a doggie door, and very smart. He does fine with other dogs, but what he really wants most is to be close to his person, so he would do best as the only dog in the home.

If you are looking for a devoted little shadow with charm, personality, and a whole lot of love to give, Francis may be your guy. His adoption fee is $225.

Meet Tanner! 🐾

Tanner is a 5-year-old, 6.2-pound Chihuahua with a tender little heart and a big love for comfort. He can be shy when first meeting new people, but with patience and kindness, this sweet boy begins to show his charming personality.

Tanner loves being spoiled, being the center of attention, and curling up under the blankets like the pampered baby he was meant to be. He is a big couch potato, enjoys treats, and also loves going for his daily walks.

Tanner is looking for a loving, patient forever family who will cherish him and give him time to warm up to new people and new surroundings. A calmer home would be ideal for this gentle little guy. In return, Tanner promises loyalty, soft tail wags, and plenty of cuddles. He does well with dogs and cats. His adoption fee is $225.

Meet Evie! 🐾

Evie is an approximately 11-month-old, 16-pound long-haired Dachshund mix, possibly Corgi mix, with the softest coat and the sweetest little spirit.

This beautiful girl has had a difficult start in life and is still learning that the world can be safe, kind, and loving. Because of that, Evie can be shy and reserved when meeting new people or adjusting to new surroundings. But with patience, gentleness, and a little time, she is already making wonderful progress and gaining confidence every day.

Evie gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys spending much of her day napping, relaxing, and taking in the world at her own pace. She has recently learned how to use a doggie door to come back inside and is continuing to work on going outside independently for potty breaks.

Evie is looking for a loving forever home that will give her the understanding and time she needs to fully blossom. In return, she has all the makings of a devoted, affectionate, and loyal companion. If you have a gentle heart and are looking for a sweet little dog who just needs the chance to feel safe and loved, Evie may be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $225.

Meet Kiwi! 🐾

Kiwi is a beautiful long-haired Chihuahua mix who is about 1.5 years old and weighs around 9 pounds. We do not know her history, only that she ended up at the shelter and we knew she was worth saving.

When Kiwi first came to us, she was very shy and fearful of many things in the outside world. With patience, kindness, and lots of socialization, she is learning that life can be fun and safe. She enjoys romping at the park, chasing birds, playing with toys, and spending time with people who love her.

Kiwi gets along well with the dogs in her foster home and would likely benefit from another young, friendly dog in her forever home to help continue building her confidence. She has done well with her house training with access to a dog door. She responds best to a calm and gentle approach and does not do well with raised voices or harsh correction.

Once Kiwi feels safe, she becomes one of the most affectionate and loving little dogs you could imagine. She would do best with an adopter who understands shy dogs and is willing to give her the time and reassurance she needs to fully blossom. Because of her timid nature, a home without small children would likely be the best fit.

Kiwi is searching for a patient and loving forever home where she can continue gaining confidence and enjoy the happy life she deserves. Her adoption fee is $225.00.

🐾 Sunday Thoughts: Embracing Technology to Save More Lives 🐾

At Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico, our mission will always be about people helping animals. ❤️

But one thing we've learned over the years is that technology can help us do that mission better. From online applications and digital medical records to social media, fundraising platforms, and even new AI tools, technology helps us spend less time on paperwork and more time helping dogs and cats find loving homes.

Every adoption photo you see, every online donation, every volunteer signup, and every success story shared across Facebook is made possible by tools that connect animal lovers with animals in need.

The future of rescue isn't replacing compassion with technology—it's using technology to amplify compassion.

As we continue to grow and adapt, we're excited to explore new ways to work smarter, reach more supporters, and save more lives.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Together, we're proving that a caring heart and a little innovation can make a powerful team. 🐶🐱
