Water is important but the body needs more than hydration to recover from heat exposure. Move them to a cool shaded space, apply water to their belly and inner thighs and use a fan to help it evaporate. Let them drink at a steady pace rather than all at once. If you are concerned, contact your vet right away. 🐾

Warm days can still put pets at risk for heat stroke. Be sure to provide plenty of fresh water, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and never leave your pet in a parked car—even for a few minutes.

Watch for signs of heat stroke, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice these symptoms, seek veterinary care right away.

In honor of wellness month try swapping out some of their treats for low calorie vegetables! Some dog safe vegetables are carrots, green beans, cucumber, celery and broccoli.
